When it Rains it Pours

Problem free car for 2 years prior to this month other than an ignition switch.

Well i've been talking with shops to get my clutch replaced for the last three weeks and hell started to rain down on me two more times.

I noticed slight vibration and noise while driving and it's been diagnosed as proabably a wheel bearing or CV.

Yesterday i got the first CEL since i've had the car. The car started to vibrate while idling as well as while driving and there was a significant loss of power. My first thought was coilpack but i'd like to hear anyone elses thoughts.

get the fault code and it should narrow it down for us pretty quick

is the CEL flashing?

either a boost leak or a coilpack...

open up ur hood...while the motor is running, unplug each cp...if the idle gets worse, its a good pack. if the idle is unchanged, its a bad one that needs to be replaced....

if all of them are good, start looking for boost leaks...

btw, test out the cp's when ur engine is cold...otherwise you'll be sorry...

Yeah it's a flashing CEL so i'll check the coilpacks tonight. Haven't check for codes yet as i don't have a vag-com.

flashing cel is more than likely coil packs. check those out and we'll see what's up.

Yeah I'd like to know if it turns out to be wheel bearing or CV. Btw, the noise it makes, does it sound like grinding or humming noise when your cruising??

When my wheel bearing was out, I would hear a grinding squeak type of noise. My mechanic said a good way to see if its the wheel bearing is if your car doesnt make that noise during braking, it could be a huge sign that the bearing is out. Hope that helps!!

Checked the coil packs and sure enough one looks to be out so i'm fixing that tomor. Hard to explain the sound that the cv or wheel bearing is making. I'll let you know what it ends up being.
