    Re: full engine restore

    You don't?

I rebuilt ONLY the head on my girlfriend's cabriolet and it was around $300 to do it right.

Is there a reason you want to? Anything wrong in particular? Regular and preventative maintenance are the best thing to do.

theres nothing wrong with asking questions, but do a search first cuz chances are its already been asked and Answered.

You should just keep up with all the preventative maintenance and dont beat it up and i bet youll get another 184k

BUT if your heart is set on a restore then check out rebuild threads.

    Re: full engine restore

If it's running ok now.. Don't mess with it.

Some high mileage there though, perhaps give it a nice desludge, plenty about that on the forums. Check all your hoses and get rid of the ones that look like they're going bad before they do. Have a look at all the check valves and replace them, or just remove the entire pcv system like i did, you won't be sorry.

Unless you've broken something, rebuilding an engine is not something you should try, at least not without some prior experince in the matter.

Like my previous comment said, get yourself a service book, and take it from there. If you want to keep the car for a very long time, that would be your best buy right now.

#1) open door, reach down, and be sure to pull the ''hood release leaver'' (see.pg 26), then pull pin from front of grill and pull up. you have now opened the hood.

Menards has seafoam on sale for $5.27. $50 is roughly enough for 9.5 cans of seafoam. Never ending supply of that shit would clean you motor up. Probably create some new oil pressure release points too(leaks).
