Mine oversteers, it used to understeer REALLY bad. H-Sports + diff mod = 1 happy driver.

An extra hour or so. Getting the diff out is easy, making 100% sure you put the diff back together is the challenging part.
I wouldn't recommend it to a novice. Not that you can't do it, a 6 year old could do it, we're just talking about a bunch of precision made pieces that cannot go together in the wrong order and have wear patterns already.

they both function the same. Torsen just updated the unit as a whole. The 1-piece is roughly 8oz lighter IIRC and can handle more torque. That part really doesn't matter a whole lot in our application, as there isn't a ring-gear attached to it. My '01 came with a one-piece, but I replaced it with a 2-piece..they're interchangeable as long as they come form the same transmission (i.e. can't swap one from 01E into 01A and vice versa). The 01E diff is physically larger than the one in the 01A.

It should be a 1 piece. From my understanding that is.

When I got hired in at my shop, my boss was all curious about how to do the center diff mod. I told him I had done it, and he kept asking questions about it for a week. ... it's not really that technical. The procedure isn't technical I should say, who ever figured out the coefficient of friction for those washers, knows more than me. That is for sure.

yea. 1 piece. and about the washers, thats what the people at torsen said. its even on their site. but whoever figured out the whole design originally, yea. way smarter than me.

more than likely. but the only way to know for certain would be to remove it and check which version it is.

changes the bias ratio of the center diff. the diff will send more power to the rear axle when the front and rear axles are rotating at different speeds. ex: during cornering. 20% torque will be applied to the front, 80% to the rear. but the amount of torque sent to the rear is a multiple of the amount of torque the front axle can handle.
