Intercooler piping size for ko4?

alright, well I have just about everything I need to go pc-16 except for the intercooler piping....

I am doing a DIY intercooler and am going to weld it together with the help of a friend....

the question is, what is the best bet for someone who will be pc-16 for the next few years....

I am thinking of either going 2.0" or 2.25"....the core I am going to be using is 2.25 in and out....

basically, I dont want any noticeable drops in pressure....I just need to lower my IATs a bit....

I am wondering if 2.0" piping will be restrictive at all?....

like mentioned above, I am not going any bigger than a ko4 for the next two or three years....so, I don't want any overkill for some turbo i may never own...lol

i would go with 2" piping. Should definately be a good size for the k04 and will have the less pressure drop than a 2.25".

x2 autobahn has a fmic kit that uses this size piping and requires min. cutting of the bumper. Not the reinforcement bar. I have one and fits awsome. Will need to use a map flange kit for 00+ and will need to remover/relocate the sai on 00+ cars.

Racetec uses 2" IC pipes and has less then 1 psi pressure drop.

my core is 2.25 in/out and i'm using 2.5 piping. I hold 20psi.

yah like i said i ran 2" piping in a 2.5" core and still would hit 20-21 psi

yo justin, yeah, I just like getting a general concensus, incase anyone has had any issues with restrictions or something, I am going to be running a smaller core than you have...I think mine is only 5.5" tall...I just didnt want to have to hack the shit out of my front bumper....plus my inlets are smaller than yours, Inlet/Outlet(OD): 2.25"....

well, I am going to order 2.0" piping in the next couple days and hopefully get some pics up when I get my life together....

I ran my hybrid k04-15 Outlaw with my Racetec and it would 25psi with no issues mind you I had to wind the boost down because the K03s map just did not like such large amount of boost.
