a glimpse in to revo switchable files.

ive only dug in to the file for just a few moments. just a quick glimpse of how revo switchable files work. im assuming the maps are chosen using the sps3.

well, here you see, in "stock" location, ignition 1 and ignition 2 maps. stock values.

here are those same maps in revo's version.

and then way down towards the end of the file, we have these maps where normally there would be FF. i dont know what sort of bits or calls are done to reference these maps. but something somewhere tells the ecu to pull data from these maps instead of the stock location seen above.

    just thought it was interesting.

im assuming that the ignition tables waaay at the end of the file where normally there is nothing but FF's are the maps that the ecu pulls data from when changing timing using the sps3. instead of the stock location.

that box is really interesting the way it works. it seems to intercept the canbus communication going from the radio > cluster. and then inserts a new message for the cluster to display. sort of a simple concept. im sure it takes some knowledge to figure out though. im sure you would need can communication knowledge and knowledge on the firmware in the cluster (so you know how it displays the messages it receives.)

Re: a glimpse in to revo switchable files.

if you can pull what location where the cruise control hooks code from you can make a cruise control switcher easy(i have the ecu schematics if interested). But i beleive that the code down there is just a process for a multiplier, im pretty sure if you look at the map it will show it being multiplied by so much in a certain range... and the program has a call to for that range somewhere

Re: a glimpse in to revo switchable files.

i still dont know exactly how the ignition equation is calculated. there are 4 ignition maps. 2 optimal ignition and 2 ignition. all me7 files seem to have those.

i dont think the bottom ones are multipliers as they are 12x16 and have the exact same starting data. just data at the end is raised. and look at revo's timing at bottom right in the stock location modified map. it is slammed compared to stock.

about the cruise control part, pm me please. :)

Re: a glimpse in to revo switchable files.

That reminds me of HP-Tuners, when we were tuning the notorious Vette I bring up occasionally.

Basically, those values are tweaks to timing intervals(BTDC to ATDC degrees) and/or duration.

Re: a glimpse in to revo switchable files.

    some quotes.

    1. A method for providing a user a range of performance levels based on first and second performance lookup tables written into an engine control unit (ECU), comprising: a) providing first and second performance lookup tables in the ECU; b) assigning first and second constants corresponding to the first and second performance lookup tables, respectively; c) providing a range of variables disposed numerically between the first and second constants for selection by the user; and d) generating a third performance lookup table corresponding to the variable chosen by the user by linear interpolation between the first and second performance lookup tables.
    5. A method as in claim 4, wherein said linear interpolation comprises: a) multiplying the stock 3-dimensional lookup table by (1-variable); b) multiplying the chipped 3-dimensional lookup table by the variable; and c) adding the results of a) and b), where the variable is 0.0 for the stock 3-dimensional lookup table to 1.0 for the chipped 3-dimensional lookup table.
    12. A method for reprogramming an engine control unit (ECU) having a stock performance lookup table, comprising: a) establishing communication with a communications port of said ECU; b) reprogramming the ECU with a chipped performance lookup table through the communication port; and c) said reprogramming includes allowing a user to choose at least the stock performance lookup table or the chipped performance lookup table or another performance lookup table generated by linear interpolation between said stock and chipped performance lookup tables, such that the user can select to operate the ECU at least at the stock performance lookup table or the chipped performance lookup table, or in between the stock and chipped performance lookup tables.
