    Electrical Help Please!!!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a S4 year. 2000. Recently the sound went out, the a/c and heat. the defrost and the side mirrors do not work. Big Electrical problem. I am in the Northwest Washington area and defrost and heat is a must. and gets dangerous when the windows fog up. I have already changed out all the fuses. I am thinking it has something to do with the bus moduels. But I really do not know. I went to one shop, 95$ an hour to take the dash out and they said it would take about 4 hrs. So its like $350 for all that for them to find the problem. So I definetly want some feedback first. If anyone can give any help or adive on this issue I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!!!

So basically you have no climate control, your radio doesn't work and you don't have power to your side mirrors?

    Re: Electrical Help Please!!!!!

sounds like you may have lost a grounding block for that area. first, check to see if there is voltage at the fuses. second, get a bentley manual or ask someone to help you locate the grounding block for those items. typically it will be a block with a larger wire feeding into it and multiple smaller wires tapped in. brown in color iirc. seems like i saw one under the drivers side dash when i worked on my alarm. check the hot leads at the head unit and climate control unit for voltage with their own ground, if there is no voltage then ground your meter to the chaissis and check for voltage then. that will tell you if it is on the hot side or the ground side. good luck.
