Probably, I mean its only 5 inches long. I think its smaller than the evoms intake and the housing size for the evoms and carbonio look about the same size so I'm gonna have to go with ya.

evoms is a cone filter, right? if i'm not mistaken, these are meant to be washed, oiled, and reused.

you should be able to get the K&N recharge kit, it comes with degreaser and oil.

I'm gonna get that K&N filter and clamp it to the other side of the MAF inside the carbonio box. That carbonio filter just seems so cheap. I've never seen a foam filter before. I think it'll be better for the system. We'll see though.

Carbonio Filter should be fine, I thought it looked pretty quality when I installed it compared to just a reg. K&N CONE. I know you most likely can replace anyt of the cone filters from the various intakes, just gotta get the right size K&N
Try to Clean it tho, most people dont need to replaces cone filters after just a small amount of use.

Re: K&N filter equivalent for my carbonio

AMSOIL uses foam air filters, and swears by their performance over the traditional paper and "mesh" k&n style filters. Their studies show that they have the same flow rate of air that passes through, yet theirs provide better filtration. Basically, if you put a k&n filter next to an amsoil filter and put them side by side up to a light, the light would pass through the k&n and not through the amsoil. Their argument is that with light shining through so easily on the k&n, dirt and other small particles can also pass through the filter, which would be harmful to your engine.

Personally, i'm indifferent. I've been happy with k&n with all of my cars in the past. In fact, i think that most amsoil pushers are kinda creepy and cult-like. I haven't seen the carbonio filter yet, please explain why it's "crappy"? or is this just your opinion?

honestly, I just took out my maf and also looked in my turbo intake pipe and it's really dirty. I cleaned the maf and the turbo pipe and hopefully it'll stay clean. I guess from my past experiences with cone filters, it just looks better quality then that foam one.

hrm... dirty is bad... how long have you had your intake? is your filter oiled?

Re: K&N filter equivalent for my carbonio

I just bought the car two weekends ago. The car already had intake, tp, exhaust and apr stage 2 so I'm not sure how long the intake has been on there. I was under the impression that the carbonio foam filter did not require any oil? Is this a misconception? I just put on forge dv, ecs snub and a home made intake pipe. I've never seen the carbonio before so I took it apart to see how it works and also to put my intake pipe on and that's when I saw almost an oily type sludge in the maf and by the turbo inlet. I cleaned both with MAF cleaner and put the new intake pipe on. I'm sure the K&N filter will be fine, but I just thought the carbonio foam filter looked a bit cheap. Thats just my opinion though. There is no proof of how that oil got in there or if the carbonio filter really is letting in dirt. I don't drive the car often because I travel so much. I think I put 200 miles on it in the last 2 weeks. I'll check again in a few hundred miles to see how the intake pipe and maf look like.

The gauze filters will let in just as much dirt if not more then the foam ones Carbonio uses

my understanding is that both foam and mesh filters should be lightly oiled. the key word is lightly oiled. the last thing you want is dirty oil all over your MAF.

dirt and other small particles will stick to the oil as they pass through the filter, and ultimately get trapped in the filter. without the oil, particles can pass right through.

I had the exact same experience today as the other guy on here.. I've had my carbonio less than 10k miles.. only drive in los angeles suburbs.. very clean, no dirt road driving or anything. Inside of my turbo is filthy as well as inside maf pipe... fine dirt everywhere.. I would replace the carbonio filter as soon as you can.. this is crap.. I'm just not going to drive my car today until I get the replacement.

also, as far as K&N filters, these 2 would work better with carbonio, I ordered one, but I measured with my carbonio and it should fit perfectly.

Hey Subaru - does the RX-4120-1 filter fit on the other side of the carbonio heat shield? If you think about it, i thought there was a special bolt for the Carbonio filter... how does this even go on -- on the other side of the MAF inside the heatshield?

i have been trying to figure this out forever.

Re: K&N filter equivalent for my carbonio

for cone filters, just slip them onto the maf housing and clamp them.

to OP, I bought the RU-whatever filter, 2 of them. They DO NOT FIT CARBONIO, I have the other one for sale if you want it, it does however fit perfectly with the stock intake hose and heatshield, as the other person had tried it, may work with evoms or other intakes as well.

I think Photons are smaller than dirt...lol

Here is a graph from http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...+Stock+air+box

Carbonio vs. the oem air box plus K&N this is not HP, its airflow. Assuming more air=more power....then the Carbonio should make more power. Since we don't have a graph providing power, it could me a minor increase.

You have to ask yourself. $379.00 vs. $49.99. Unless Carbonio produces an actual data showing superior HP and TQ gains over the K&N, the CAI looks like a waste of $.

Just my thoughts...there are way too many CAI threads so i apologize for digressing

I have the K&N filter mentioned the first few posts if you want it. I have a brand new one and an open one thats never been used but I test fitted on my carbonio.

    edit: Part # RU-3580

Edit: just realized you have carbonio, it will not fit carbonio
