    Re: Joey Mod question

I would, there more than adhesive in your headlight assembly and if something warps, that would suck.

    PS. Don't use acetone!

Yes, DO NOT use any kind of solvent on these. The clear plastic is not resistant to solvents and will craze and get hazy. If you use an oven, you run the risk of warping the housing, and may melt or deform smaller parts made from less heat resistant material. You could degrade clips and similar parts and make them brittle and likely to break.

    Re: Joey Mod question

I used a heat gun and a screwdriver at first to lift up teh "flap" and than a U-shaped pick to get underneath it.

Took me 38 minutes...best time so far

I didnt even have to remove my ballast, ignitors, bulbs or anything

Use the oven on low heat (like 250 max). The 3M tape is a PITA to get separated, Took me 3+ hours to finish mine. I would highly recommend purchasing some blacked out housings on ebay as this mod took way too long for the effect + I rubbed off all of the chrome on the low beam ring using those static cling pledge pads (Don't use these!).

I think he is just talking about separating the housing.

    Re: Joey Mod question

Oven takes longer and is harder to work with because EVERYTHING is hot. Plus, the point the black part becomes soft is very close to the point where the clear part turns brown and brittle. Heat gun is best IMHO, because you can isolate where the heat is going, and I've done it both ways.
Not to mention that either your wife, mom, or your room mates will be pissed at the plastic smell that doesn't go away easily from the oven.
