    Winter Project questions

My car has 137k on the odo and i just pulled the motor to do turbos and other random things. I plan on doing the head gaskets while i have the motor out since it has higher miles it could go out soon.

My question here is, is there anything else i should do? Piston rings, rod bolts, etc or should i just leave it be? I plan on doing this slowly for the next few months so i got time.

    Thanks Guys!

    Re: Winter Project questions

not necessarily for winter projects, but if the timing belt needs done, do it, plus the coolant sensor by the radiator

Timing belt and rest of the stuf was done 10k miles ago. Coolan sensor should be put on the list to do things. Thanks

So no internals should be touched? I will be going stage 3- for a while than when i get enough money i will go full stage 3. Im also doing the clutch and clutch slave cylinder.

Well i from what i was told, if your doing the head gaskets then timing belt has to come off, so you should aleast replaced those bolts and not re torq them. But i could be wrong

dont do the headgaskets just because you have 130k. thats absurd.

you know how many cars ive owned with 200k-300k on original head gaskets?

Well i figured if im gonna have the engine on an engine stand i might as well build it to last longer because i plan on running the car hard when i go stage 3. I took the whole wiring harness off and about to take the intake manifold off to do the after run pump and the spyder hose. I would hate to have to pull the engina at 160k to do the headgaskets if they go bad. I have heard of very few S4's with bad headgasket

The only bolts that need to be replaced are head bolts. BTW. i'm also doing the chain tensioner gaskets.

Motor mounts look to be in very good condition but tranny mounts are iffy.
