    Drivetrain clunk/vibration @ 4k miles

My car is a 2008 2.0q-6MT Avant. Yesterday it started to make a faint clunking when engaging the clutch from a stop. It's gotten MUCH worse today and there is an intermittent thumping vibration that is road speed (not engine speed) related. It clunks harder off the line now too, so I don't think it is a tire.

Any ideas what this might be? Obviously I'm going to let the dealer have at it since theres a warranty but I'm not sure it should even be driven.

Update: Had the car towed to the dealership, they call me back a few hours later and say nothing is wrong. I took it out for a quick drive and it was fine. Would they have tightened/adjusted something without telling me?

i hear a little faint clunk too, mine is brand new as well.. I figured it was normal for a cold start drivetrain engagement on a quattro.

Rear differential fluid. If the fluid somehow gets jelly like from the cold, or if the diff is low on fluid you will get that terrible sound and it gets more intense the faster you drive. The dealer usually changes the fluid and your good to go. The reason they said there is nothing wrong with your car is because AOA doesn't wan't to inform enough customers that a complaint or petition is started making it a recall item, which will intern cost them a lot of money.

Is this from your experience? If they are not telling people, how do you know?
