Re: Here's the results of my dyno run

Well my goal is to make power on pump gas without meth injection. I can always experiment with that later but I want to have a baseline for future mods.

The next thing after we get the file revised is to upgrade the intake manifold and put in a much larger throttle body. Since we have our own dyno doing the before and after to show the gains is easy.

Question... we did the pull in 4th gear.

Does it make any difference compared to a 3rd gear one?

Re: Here's the results of my dyno run

It depends on the dyno sometimes, sometimes other things regarding setup. Greg's car made more power in 4th iirc. Mine makes more power in 3rd...Not by huge differences.

If you want to make serious power on pump, the HTA compressor wheel and/or a custom tune are needeed

he is running a custom tune. i think this pull was the base file but winston will reveal as he sees fit.

dude flow is flow... 2.0 is 2.0, you can't tell me that doesn't make sense... thats just rediculous. I can understand the fuel system hindering us or other factors, but a better flowing head is a better flowing head. There is not one single car trying to make power out there that does not benefit from more flow

Re: Here's the results of my dyno run

velocity is a big factor Clint. Why do you think I kept mine a small port up here? bore/stroke is a little different than air flow velocity coming into the engine (even if the engine is a vacuum)... but I forget how some of you only care about upper rpms here... I completely agree with you on bigger turbos but there has to be a line somewhere, unless you don't care about lower rpm power/spool. I however have to think about that all the time up here. That is why I want to see where Ted's setup goes up here (he is AEB on 1.85T quick spooling 256 with E85, custom tune)...

I guess, but you are a rare case... Most people are looking for power, and that small port head is a restriction.

More flow = more power at less boost. Winston is asking how he can get maximum power on pump gas... AEB head will ABSOLUTELY help. With a 30R there is no argument for this

yes I am a rare case, totally agree. But there are many guys at elevation that want to make good low end and top end power be it audi, subi, mitsh, etc. I would not even have this small of a turbo if I lived where you lived. That is why I am so interested in the twin scroll design or similar. The standard Garretts are what they are. (like I said earlier, I knew you'd bring a b5 or mkiV comparison into the mix)

A 28RS Jetta picked up 20whp by just switching from the smaller intake manifold to one that can flow the air the AEB needs

He did a comparison using a small port mani on a big port head, then a big port mani on a big port head? Talk about one shitty comparision. Can you say turbulance some?
had the transition gasket... You cant say that going from a small port with small port mani to a big port with big port mani is not going to net you power. I just refuse to believe it... Even for you up there, flow helps, although your spool may be later

its a transition though still. but that is my whole point. I do not want to spool later. I couldn't stand getting into full power at 5000rpms up here. I want the best of both worlds. Low end grunt power and high end crazy power all on a "small" 4 cylinder

Would you like a magical turbo that spools at idle and holds till redline also?
