    HTA GT3582 Turbo Discussion

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So at this point I still do not have my insurance money from the previous car, but regardless I am doing what I can to prepare my car for the build. That includes a ton of research and discussion with a number of people on products and ideas as well as putting in drivetrain / suspension/ braking components I can afford into the car. Anyway to the point.

Seeing that Evo guys are all the rage these days about the HTA GT35 I figure I may just go with that turbocharger myself for my 2.0 build. Been reading good things about this turbo, just curious if anyone from the B5 community has tried this turbo out. The fact that the turbo makes more power, and spools quicker is quite enticing.

I want a good setup and reliable (A relative term, I am a mechanic) setup. People are going to call me crazy, but this car will be a DD for me. I don't mind it being harsh.

    Thoughts?

pretty sure don supreme has one on his car.. maybe he'll chime in. All in all it is just a better turbo in every way after my recent thread and doing some more research. I'll be running the HTA GT3076r.

If you want one give me a little time and I might be able to get you one at a discounted price. I am in the process of trying to become a FP dealer.

Yes it spools up sooner, but at 32psi or less it makes the same peak hp as a standard GT35r. When really pushed well beyond 32psi is when there becomes a big gain in peak hp.

Which I plan to do =).

Like I mentioned though, there is still some time until I physically get cash from my old car. Silly legal battle.

I have the PM with the cx 600 clutch offer as well (haven't forgotten).

    Thanks Mike.

    Re: HTA GT3582 Turbo Discussion

LOL, thats a 71 lbs/min turbo. Maybe if he was looking to use the car for mainly just drag racing.

Now I see why you asked about that turbo. But odd thing is that not even FP has pictures of it yet.

I guess I will have to ask about them, but for the price I might just go with the BW 82 lbs/min T4 Twinscroll S300SX 91-79 which has a 66mm ind 91mm exd (AKA the S366) which retails for $500 less then that HTA3586.

I think thats a bit too much, the turbo is only 50 bucks more but the car needs to be drivable. He was trying to convince me all night .

So input some thoughts! I mean its only a dedicated turbo thread. How do you like it? Did you push it yet or is your motor still being broken in?

Oh I know. That is a HUGE T4 flanged turbo and even the GT3586 is going to be a little too big.

You are better off with your first choice of the HTA3582 or something of that size.

    Re: HTA GT3582 Turbo Discussion

Nice, but I thought you wanted the HTA3582 because it spooled up sooner then a standard GT3582r. But now your looking at doing a turbo that spools up exactly the same as a GT35r. Do you really plan on running 34+psi Clint? You guys just dont understand how pointless it is to use 600whp on the streets, but I guess some people just have to lean the hard way after they wrap the car around a pole and end up in the hospital.

If you guys keep changing your mind every 15 minutes like teen age girls you are never going to have a car that runs.

but no seriously... mike, a .63 35r based turbo that makes 600+whp with headroom and .63 35r spool...

Id love 600+whp on the streets, but this motor wont do it on pump w/o solid lifters and a low compression ratio... Neither of which I have

The last 600whp-ish car I drove on the streets was an upgraded turbo and stuff 996TT... I loved it! It does require decent driving ability and common sense, the first I have and Im working on the second one

What I dont understand is, why is it when someone posts a thread of a HTA dyno sheet they always end the dyno run way too early? What is point of that when we all know the evo's have no problem revving to 8k even if it has stock valves springs.

LOL, never mind that is a dyno of a STI not an Evo.

Big everything doesn't make the car fast... Its the combination that makes a car fast.

The B6 guys with BATs running 13s will eventually realize this, but hey................... Given the choice for the hta3582r and the 86, I would still go with the 82, but hey -- thats just me.

I don't even drive my car everyday. I like having passing power @ 4k rpm and decent passing power in 5th gear (which I currently have)... because when the bish hits full boost my car sounds like a freakin bike ---------------Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh - bye bye.

Exactly what I'm looking for, I constantly drive 11 second 2.7t's, then at the end of the day I get back into my car and just feels like I'm not moving. I want to shit on all 2.7's and then some. I feel confident that I can be more than responsible with the power. Quite frankly ill prolly never drive the streets with full boost (unless theres a meet or something. )

I certainly won't go bigger turbo unless this car turns into a dedicated track whore. (Seeing I live in the city and have no garage I don't think there's any chance of that.)

"Shitting" on 11 second cars with a street driven A4 is a tall order and will require a fair deal of compromise.

    We are talking money

I put my $.02 in there. I don't see an A4 rocking anything less than 2.2L shitting on built 2.7T's without some serious cash thrown in there.

Are we talking high 11sec 2.7T's, low, mid ??

... As far as the HTA3582 or HTA86, I'd say do it. There's a handful of the import guys running them on 2L's and are very happy.
