Thanks for the info. A/W is not really forward thinking so I tend to stay away. Till the mods learn how to control the B5ers I have found a great home here. So thanks

As for the review it is nice to see the Companys letting people put the car threw its paces. Im sure it is a ban load of power over stock. But the reviews are going to be obviously scewed a little due to the wow factor and excitement people have for the car.

For me this is why obviously I would love to see the Video and some track performance #'s. Now Im sure its going to be great but for 10G's Id love to see some real world performance info. I am very excited about this and currently setting aside money. But as a consumer that is going to put a supercharger on my car I would love to be able to put all doubts to bed

there is a video of the car in the track in youtube. i think it was posted by eastpatuner. the car has also been driven cross country from CA to NJ. one impressive thing is it is running on the stock clutch. at the rate people have been driving this car combined with its power, the clutch has been holding up very well.

Re: >>> DubAudi review of the AWE/VF SC S4 <<<

I do think for all the driving and the handful of reviews, we are certainly missing the 1/4 mile / trap speed info. I know it was summer and hot before, but there is nice cool weather now - especially for AWE.

It starts to make me suspicious. I can only read so many "Yes it was the awesomest of awesome and my butt dyno got roxxored" reviews (yet I did enjoy them). I'd like to see a 1/4 mile time and trap speed. Not sure If I was clear or not, but I'd like to see a 1/4 mile time and trap speed. In case you missed that, I'm highly interested in the 1/4 mile time and trap speed.

not the best video but you can tell how easy it is to handle. and you also get some idea of what kind of acceleration this thing has.

did not know that the unit cost about 10k.... If it is 10k than what is the 1/4 time and trap speed. I would not hesitate to put this in my car, but without any spec..... I'm still a skeptic...

Just be patient guys. I'm picking my car up tomorrow (it's the 2nd car running the kit) and there a few more being installed right now. There will be a ton of data available before the kit goes on sale to the public. The kit is still being finalized and is still several months away from being available so hang in there

Re: DubAudi review of the AWE/VF SC S4

Think you guys will be waiting for quite sometime for a group buy on these.

Keep in mind at $10k (rounding up) you are getting some serious hardware that has had a ton of r&d $$ poured into.

    1. Eaton M90 Roots supercharger with VF billet pulley
    2. VF CNCd Cast intake manifold with cast inlet
    3. VF CNC'd slide-in charger cooler radiator
    4. VF water cooling system (bosch pump/porsche radiator) for charge cooler
    5. VF stainless steel silicon braised fuel feed line
    6. VF extruded CNC fuel rails
    7. VF billet idler pulley (high speed bearings) with bracket
    8. VF spring tensioner with bracket and idler (high speed bearings)
    9. VF replacment fuel filter with rising rate FPR conversion
    10. Goodyear replacement Gatorback 5 rib serpentine belt
    11. Bosch EV14 440cc fuel injectors with Bosch minitimer connector pigtails
    12. GIAC Serial flash

in addition to that they've got a beta power steering cooler, fuel pump, and other goodies on my car. The list above is surely to expand before retail kits are available. Also keep in mind there are no additional mods required to run this kit as normally do. No clutch (atleast so far), no downpipes/cats/exhaust (not needed but may make even more power with), no FMIC (like the turbo guys), etc etc. At 10k it's truly turn-key. I don't know about you but that is some serious power for the money.

Hey Bud, I just saw your car at VF. Boy does it look great, I just dropped off my car for a lil project too . The kit complete is truely amazing fit and finish, I was gonna take a picture of it but I was busy with Nik. It looks awesome and is awaiting your arrival to pick her up and take her home across the desert. . Have a safe trip over and a GREAT trip home your gonna luv it.

    cheers!

That is pretty poor argument. Without the knowledge of how much R&D was spent, you can't comment on the price and their margins. The company makes many supercharger kits, they didn't have to pay 20 engineers to work for 2 years to figure this thing out. Secondly MTM had already done it, thus everyone knew it was possible. I know they didn't copy MTM, but the basic method for implementing a SC on our cars was already out in the open.

I'd bet at $4k each they'd still make enough money to pay for all the R&D and expenses, but they wouldn't make enough for their owners to buy a new ferrari. Cheers though, everyone needs to make a buck and I'm glad someone has brought this to market.

Re: DubAudi review of the AWE/VF SC S4

What makes you think I don't know how much R&D money went into it? You're correct VF does make a lot of supercharger kits, however this is their first roots type blower and they did indeed have several engineers working for 2 years on this kit. Why do you think it took so long to come out even in beta stage?

As for your comments about MTM... none of it is rocket science, find where to mount the blower, make the intake manifold, fueling, charge cooler, etc, etc. MTM didn't invent how to supercharge a V8, either did VF, but adapting a design or idea to a specific platform is not as easy as you're making it out to be.

Last time I checked Nik drove a B7 A4 so not sure where you get the whole Ferrari thing from. Oh and FYI $4k wouldn't cover cost of the parts.

Wow... your quote makes you look like an ass, and you obviously know what they say about people who make assumptions right?... I mean you really have no clue what your even talking about my friend when its comes to costs of R&D and engineering this specific product, but heh.. everyone's entitled to their opinion though it may be taken as a grain of salt.

    cheers to you know-it-all

Re: DubAudi review of the AWE/VF SC S4

I agree that for what you're getting the price does seem reasonable, especially when you consider the quality. Obviously the kit hasn't been around long enough to test long-term durability, but so far everything looks top notch.

Re: DubAudi review of the AWE/VF SC S4

I have asked this question several times before with little to no response in other threads but.........For those of us that live at altitude will there be a seperate tune? My Brother has his SC 2.8 and it runs rich here in the Rockies. PES/GIAC make no such program. So, now we are going having to have someone do custom tunning on it and thats goingto run into the thousands. Have or will VF/GIAC be addressing this issue? I'd hate to go through the same thing on my S.

Most likely there will be no answer to that until there is testing at altitude to see if another tune is indeed necessary or not. As I've replied to you before I have a road trip to Vail planned for later this year and will be doing some high altitude testing on the kit at that time.

Re: DubAudi review of the AWE/VF SC S4

The price is fair for the Audi market. Due to the fact that almost all Audi tuners hike up the rates for Audi parts. We are paying a premium due to the fact that it is a Audi.

Look at AWE's B5 S4 turbo kits 8300$ not exactly a bargain. But they are good parts and AWE has lots of over head. you can do a stage 3 to your B5 for about 1/2 that.

Is the supercharger a good deal...well if you compare it to other cars with the same parts needed.
    intake
    supercharger
    injectors
    tuning

No not at all we are getting gouged for sure. But they are the only ones making a supercharger and Im sure they had to scrap several designs along the way. So the 9500 price tag is not that bad. It is about 3k too much compared to domestics tho
    http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...2v/gt96-04.htm
This kit comes with better hard ware and is 5300$

here is another one with some better pic's
    http://www.kennebell.net/supercharge...gmCorvette.htm

And one of the most complicated systems still 3k cheaper then us
    http://www.magnacharger.com/sc-cts-v.htm

In the end it is great to see we have this option and Im sure over time the price will drop. We really need to commend AWE if you remember (no disrespect to ASP) ASP thought they were going to charge 15k for a system that was clearly not even in the same league as this offering from AWE.

But as I said earlier. With out REAL data (not to discredit the wright ups) 1/4 mile times and not just driving around (the race between the RS4 will be a good start) this will help me tell if the money spent is going to get me what I am looking for
