This isn't a rant about Montreal drivers, this is a rant about Toronto drivers.

Montreal guys:

I noticed your lights change almost immediately when at an intersection. Meaning, when the light turns red for one flow of traffic, almost immediately the other direction goes green. How many accidents do you guys have in your city? Do the lights change too quickly?

I'm wondering if it's a good idea here. This morning I came to the light westbound at Bathurst/Finch and I stopped because it was red.....minivan beside me kept on truckin'....blatently going through a red light. If our lights changed immediately wouldn't people stop running red's because they know they don't have that 3 second gap? And if these people did get in accidents wouldn't it keep them off the road because they couldn't afford to drive anymore?

Oh....also, I was in the center lane after turning onto Finch and a guy from back in the line came down the middle lane, went into on coming traffic to get around me, and proceeded to bud in line up at the corner. Asshole. Had another guy do the exact same thing and cut me off at the intersection 30 seconds later. The same guy that cut me off, 2 lights later, used the right turn lane to get ahead of 2 cars and then cut back in.

I saw 4 traffic violations in 2 mins.....wtf?

Ya, that's MTL lights for you. It makes up for the "no turn on right".

but is it good? Are there a lot of accidents because people run reds? I seriously think it would work here.....

i dunno about that... that tiny delay period is necessary... for instance if your the lead car or 2nd car in line turning left at a intersection and the light goes from yellow to red you need that tiny 3 seconds to finish your turn no? if the light just goes from red to green without delay it would end up causing a delay still going the other direction...

however i do agree with you about stupid drivers pulling up on the right turn lane and speeding ahead to cut off the guy to his left at the lights... i've come across this more times than i can remember... for the most part if it's legit and they look lost and made a mistake and can't turn left i let them in... if they are stupid mofo's i just speed ahead with them not letting them in... (yes i'm a jerk like that)...

Honestly in city traffic how far ahead of someone are you going to get by doing stupid shit like that? a block or two? just not worth it.

I don't know about accidents but regardless, people will still run red lights.

I'm for red light cameras.

I had three close calls with people blowing through red lights. At least one of them slowed down for me to catch up and apologized, not saying that made everything right of course.

I'm against red light cameras! If we open the door to these... before we know it cameras will be everywhere.

One statement to this ^^^

Never enter an intersection you can't get out of.

A la people who sit in an intersection when traffic is backed up and then can't go anywhere when the light changes. Sure, I could understand the 3 second delay for turning purposes, but if we knew we didn't have that 3 seconds, wouldn't all that crap stop?

When the light goes green for me and someone jumps the light....I drive right at them full bore and slam on my brakes right in front of them. I'm a jerk that way, but scares the shit out of them so hopefully they won't do it again......
