Hi, I searched and couldn't find a good answer. I'm having a problem with my car, its an 01 1.8t with tip tranny, when the car first starts up it revs to like 1500rpm, then when you put your foot on the brake the car revs die down to 500 then bounce around. It seems to be better when its not at idling speed. Coils were changed under the recall like 20k ago, I changed spark plugs yesterday and it didn't help. Got any ideas?

how does it run after that? Does it run ok after? We need some more information to help you out......unless someone has had this problem before, maybe the brake booster is shot.....not sure

Sorry, i just got a chance to check the code, it says random missfire, then 2, 3, 4 missfire and bank 1 o2 sensor malfunction. Hope that helps too

Clean your TB and MAF before you try replacing anything

I'm thinking MAF. Which is easy to check... go to the regional forums (vwvortex forums if no one here can help) and see if someone will help you out by using their vagcom to log your MAF.

I think he has his own VAG com already but not sure.

Is your car still chipped or did you take that out and sell it as well?

Check for vacuum leaks.
