How are your Ipods setup?

I have the Ipod hookup going to the stock headunit, I havn't had one on an OEM unit and know how to active it (press CD twice) but its weird how it reads the songs. If I put them into playlists it doesnt seem to find the songs, do I need to just put a bunch of random songs on there? Sorry if this confusing, maybe someone else has had this problem.

i have mine with playlists and the ipod set to shuffle...buttons 1 and 2 go through playlists and 3 and 4 go to the next song, 5 and 6 scan...the unit is not foolproof...sometimes i have to unplug and replug the ipod to get it to work if its been sitting for a while...and sometimes when i go past a song and want to go back, it'll reset to the beginning of the playlist..but hell, i got the whole setup for under $20..so i cant complain

Are you using the OEM/Audi cable or another unit like the Dice to go through the head unit?

To be honest I am not ssure what it is because it came with the car, it does look like a generic Ipod hook up you might use to charge it though.
