    Good Morning B5 lovers..

I figured I would ask the question here hope I get an answer before the end of the day so I won't have to go to the dealer..

Ok here is the think I aquired a 1999 A4 with out a motor. I droped one in. I bolted up 5 bolts for the trany have 1 left thing is it doesnt' fit in the last spot. Pulled out bolt by bolt and tried it in every spot but it doesn't seem to go in all the way.. Do anyone have the part diagram of the trany to motor if not i will just have to go to the dealer and buy new bolts...

oh this one is just FYI.. I started the car and heard a rubbing sound pulled the trany off and noticed that the bolts in the torque converter was rubbing on the sheeld between the motor and trany.. went to the dealer to buy a new plate... the gave me new bolts.. Torque patter not the 16mm hex that were in there... any noticed they changed the bolts or did the person who took out the motor put the wrong bolts back ?

Sorry for the long post with out pics.. will post pics of my car soon...

    thats is correct...
i have removed the trans twice in the last two weeks .. lol

two of those bolts have nuts on them.. the longer one with the nut goes on the pass. side, the shorter w/nut goes on the driver side.

Ok so .. my question is.. the 2 bolts on the driver side.. On is the Long with the bracket that holds wires... the bolt under that one is the one I can figure out.. I have one bolt left its a bit shorter than the one with the bracket where does she go ? I might have to pull out another bolt

    iirc...

there should be three on the driver side.. (depends how you wanna look at it)
on the driver side.. there is one all the way up..
i believe it shoudl be a medium size one..
then there is a long one.. in the middle of the driver side.
then a short one with a nut towards the bottom ...

    JOHN ..

im on aim.. if it will help.. easier to chat then constantly posting.

    Re: Transmission Bolts

i just tear things apart and put them back.. i really dont pay attention where things were... eventually it will go back the same way..

    But from what i recall....
there should be three small/medium ones on top.. the driver side one goes through a bracket to hold the harness.

on the pass. side.. there are two long ones that goes throught the starter.. another below those (long with a nut)...
there should be three maybe four (not sure 100%) along the bottom of the trans that goes throught the oil pan..

on the driver side.. should be a small one with a nut.. then a medium/long one above , half way up the trans (driver side) below the small that went through the bracket!

i hope that helps a bit..
