I have a VAST chipped 2.7 A6 manual right now and really like the car.
However we just bought my wife a A4 3.0 and the tip trans is better than I thought it was going to be.
I also drove someones S4 and really liked it compared to my A6.
So I can get rid of the A6 and pick up an S4 almost as an even trade.
My A6 is totally new underneath. New turbos, WP's, EGT''s, O2's, RS4 clutch, TB, you name it.
Guy I bought it from dumped about 7K into it and then had to sell it. I've had offers for it in fact.
I just did the RS4 clutch myself and after driving her automatic was thinking it may not be a bad way to do.
I only expect to chip it from Vast again. If replacing the TC will mean the trans will hold up thats fine with me.
I guess the better question is, what does it cost to make the trans live behind 360ft lbs of torque.
The last thing is, how is the mileage? I average about 22-23 in mine with aggressive driving. After seeing how fast the turbo's spool now and the super short 1st gear I imagine that all things equal I'd get better mileage out of the auto, car is too jumpy in 1st and I'm sure kills the mileage.
Thanks
