I was confused by their times and traps as well. The apr car was on 100 octane too. I dont know if he just ran it on the pump tune or what. The AWE car said he ran 12.5 @ 116 last time at the track back in like February but that was on race gas which I also thought was low. He said he had a new tune now but it didnt appear to be doing to well even though he was on 93 I thought he would trap another 2mph.

Those are terrible trap speeds for stage 3 S4's. Especially the APR car on 100 octane. On 93 you should have no problem seeing 118-120 traps @ high 11s, this is on a healthy well tuned Stage 3.

What mods do those cars have?

I thought that 12.5 @ 113 was an apr stage 3 time on pump gas and AWE was more like 12.3 @ 115 on pump, then the apr on 100 octane should be like 12.0 @ 118 not 113mph traps still.

That's because of the significant low end lag. The car's cant wind up quickly enough. Driven a GT S4 before, there's not a lot of power before 4500rpm on a stock motor, its not slow by any means, just not quick down low like a low rpm spooling k04 car. Gt's make up ground up top stupidly fast though.

There is no excuse for a healthy stage 3 not to be in high 11s.

But that has nothing to do with drag racing seeing that you should NEVER be under 4500 rpms while drag racing a twin GT S4 or a BAT A4 unless your not taking the car past 8k rpm. I know because I have ran high 10's in a twin GT S4 at fontana in 90 deg temps on all season tires.

Odd. Tony ran an 11.9 @ 123.8 on a pump tune and 22 psi. Full exhaust, full interior, heavy 18's and cruddy tires, cutting a high 1.8 60'

With C16 and 30psi, as well as decent setup, he would be pummeling times.

At this day and age, if a stage 3 doesn't run in the 11's it is considered slow.

I was actually the driver of the car in this thread. The owner ran it a few times in the mid 13s then I got in and we adjusted it a little and I ran the 2 12.8s then a 12.54 followed by a 12.19 and then 12.41 for the last run.

You will have to ask Chris (Jaxspeeddemon) to post the slip since he has them in the glovebox.

The car at the strip goes as follows:

Completely stock AEB 1.8t
ATP GT3071r .63 a/r
Tial 38mm wastegate with open dump
Turboxs H34 BOV
Tapp tuning
Full interior minus the donut spare tire
18" stock wheels (thick 6 spoke wheels)
Hair under 1/4 tank of 93 octane with 1 gallon of VP 110 leaded race gas ( 1 gallon was added after the 12.8 runs)
Methanol injection
24.5 psi for the 12.4 and 12.1 runs, 23.5 for the 12.5 run a little earlier.
1.69 60ft on 12.1 run

Yes it does have to do a lot with the driver. But cmon, everyone can bang out 2-3-4th. Launch is understandable. Fact of the matter is those cars are trapping low 11X speeds. That is BAD for a stage 3 car, especially on race gas. Just as a comparison how bad those times are, we have a 4000lbs A6 running 11.8 @ 119 with nothing but a few simple bolt-ons, our tune (93 octane mind you) and a so-so driver.

A lot of the time its not the driver but the tune the car is running. Ive seen S4's shave over half a second off consitant ET's with just with a re-tune and nothing else.

I was the driver of the Eurocode S4 that won the drag and over all event at the Eurotuner GP in 2007. Eurotuner even has a video of that S4 and shows me running the 10.8 at Fontana.

The S4 ripped to 10.87sec at 131mph and was promptly removed from the track by the officials for not having a cage fitted.

That car put down 650whp. There are a few S4's claiming 700-750whp that haven't been able to run a 10 or even 130 mph at tracks that are much quicker then Fontana.
