You can definitely see the difference when you put an a6 with stock suspension next to an a6 with sport suspension.

Once on and settled it probably is closer to an inch.

Out where I live they have a VW/Audi gtg every Wednesday. There is a guy out there with an avant in the same color, year, transmission... Basically identical from the factory besides some interior options. I am on sport suspension and he is not. Two weeks ago when I was parked next to him, you could clearly see a difference in the two suspension wise. He's got about double the wheel gap, and from the back my car looks ridiculously lower than his.

Still not low enough though. :(

I used Eibachs on my 4.2, and love them. I got 2 more years out of my stock shocks, but now Im looking to go FSD as well. If you get them first, please post up and let us know how they ride.

no worries, the only reason why I'm looking into OEM Sport springs is because I got offered a wheel/tire package at an insane price, but the tires on are 245/35 with a +35 offset so rubbing might or will (according to Gigi) be an issue. So far according to my search the oem sport spring drop is around 0.7".

I will be doing the test fit on the wheels next week so we'll see how much clearance I actually have.

I have Eibach sport springs with the FSD's they ride smooth yet are very stable when doing spirited driving. They pass the wife test!
OEM sport springs are .75 inches lower, Eibachs are about 1"

I just measured my friend dad's car. My OEM sport form ground to fender is exactly 1'' less.

I'm not sure if I might need 1" or just a little more. I want approximately 2 finger gap all around. I'm worried that if I do get the Prokit/FSD combo, massive rubbing will occur in the rear.

Mostly because I'm using 19X8 wheels with 245/35 tires and since 245 is really only meant for 8.5 and above the tire sticks out a little(I wanted more tire). Not to mention I find Falken 452 kinda square-ish around the wall.

Hey -- same as my prior Audi-Wrangler look!

Get the Eibachs, they're not "too low", not as low as a lot of coil set-ups and not quite as low as H&R springs. Handles better for sure (along w sways esp.). I like the (Bilstein) sport shocks -- a lot less play than FSDs as Frank and I discovered recently.

I think the differences from stock to sport to Eibach are larger increments than the .6 or .75 inches as suggested. You've got same gap I had.

so you're suggesting Prokit/Bilstein Sport Shock do you have the product number for the Bilsteins

so the Bilstein are stiffer than the FSD. Are the FSD just OEM replacements?

    Re: Sport Package Spring

Need Frank or Gigi to compare FSD to "stock", if possible. Frank has pretty much play in his (can push down on rear end several inches, notso with Bilstein sports which do not yield much bounce movement at all). I dropped with Eibachs and changed to Bilsteins at same time (from original shocks and our "Wrangler" springs), so don't know FSDs. My mechanic feels Bilstein sports nicer ride than Koni sports.

Check Bilstein website -- they only make one line of "sport" shocks for A6, as opposed to HD, etc.

FSD's are a nity firmer than OEM sport overall. They are progressive though and adapt to the kind of turn I guess. They remain soft in slow turn around town and all, over bumps... but they firm up and handle better when driving aggressively through twisties for example.

    G-man -
There was a lot of vertical play pushing down on Frank's trunk (that I don't have), but I have no idea about separating effects of shocks from sways on curves.

wofman, just by looking at your pics, it looks like that i would rub in the rear.

If i remember correctly you had 18" 235/40/18?

    Re: Sport Package Spring

yes on my tire size --

    235/40/18 = sidewall of 3.7" plus wheel radius of 9 = 12.7;
    245/35/19 = sidewall of 3.38 plus wheel radius of 9.5 = 12.88

I think this is right. Mimimal difference, less than .2" clearance difference.

He's probably tired of me recommending his advice, but I think Gigi ran these but switched from 19 to 18 -- not b/c of rubbing but b/c thin sidewall (rough ride).
