no way...you'll lose this bet. Pricing has to be under S5. S5 is base $65,900 so S4 will be closer to $64,000.

    Re: TTS price...

p.s. afretes...how happy are your colleagues about the US dollar rally? Had to be hurting sales a bit. Not just the lost sales to US cars but just having to hear customers cite US pricing in their negotiations...that would suck.

Right now the US, S5 is base $50,900. In Canada it is $65,900.

If you import a new (can't, but let's just say you could) S5 from the US, it costs...

    base $50,900 x currency @ 1.23
    +6.1% import duty
    +$300 registration/inspection/RIV fees
    Total $66,726 + gst/pst

3 months ago, with dollar at par, this import was $54,304...!

I am happy about it, of course. I know that it hurts us in other ways, but it helps our economy by keeping Canadians buying in Canada.

It was a PITA at first, people always talking about the price difference like if we have a saying or anything to do with it. After a few months, you sort of have a way of handling with that objection... we would shrug it off and go to the next guy : )

I'm happy also that the CDN dollar has dropped (well it's on it's way back up, quite the increase last night), but a lower CDN dollar is better for the Canadian economy. Sure, having a dollar on par is great for consumers who have the opportunity to buy things from the USD but it really hurts the economy in the long run with manufacturing shutdown and us no longer competitive on the world market.

Anyways back to the TT-S pricing :)

Why does the S4 have to be cheaper than the S5? It has more doors! Doors don't grow on trees, people! :)

    Re: TTS price...

Though in general, the rule of thumb is...

    A3 < A4 < A5 < A6 < A8

    Same with the S series.

Seems that in the US, the price of the B8 S4, similarly equipped to the BMW, may fall somewhere between the 335 and M3.

    Re: TTS price...

    Haha, yeah I know.
The A5 would probably be cheaper, if they could build the same quantity as they do the A4. Never happen, though.

    nice!

actually an Audi Canada executive told me that at a dinner. He wouldn't budge when I pressed him on it, but just implied that the 5 would superprice the 4 in all situations (A/S etc.)

it's funny...the Audi and Lexus decisions to lower prices have almost backfired...pricing is now cheaper in Canada for many models.

check the Lexus RX350 which has been aggressively price cut...US price in CDN is about $6,000 more than our price here. oops!
