    APR Customer Service B.S....

So I ordered an R1 diverter valve 4 weeks ago and paid for the 2nd day air shipping so i could have it that week. 2 weeks after my order it still hadn't been sent out, hadn't been made, or charged to my account.

I decided i could use the $180 for something else so i call APR and tell them that i want to cancel my order, I'm a college student, need the money etc. The guy on the phone in sales asks me for my name to find the order, hes friendly sounds like he knows what hes doing, hes like, "yeah man i feel ya, ok well its canceled you're good to go". I ask to confirm "ok so its canceled? thats all we need?". "yep you're good" so we hang up.

A week later I'm at a little hole in the wall bar with some friends taking a break from studying. I go to get some money out of the ATM and get "insufficient funds" HMMMMM.....

So APR didn't cancel my order, they charged me for the part and 2nd day air shipping ironically a month after i placed the order. I called to ask what the deal was. A guy in sales who I'm pretty sure is the same guy that said he canceled the order picks up, I explain the situation and it goes something like:
Him - "you talked to a guy? in sales?"
Me - "yeah... are you like the only guy in sales or something?"
Him - "no, no just trying to figure this out"
Him - "well i mean i guess you're just going to have to send it back to us when you get it then we can refund you"

I get the part a few days later and call APR, the guy in sales tells me again to just send it back to them and when they get it they will refund all my money. Keep in mind here that due to APR's mistake my bank account is now at negative 485 dollars because of overdraft fees that would've never been charged if the 180 had stayed in my account. I'm relying on my friends and family to loan me money to get by through this whole thing.

So i say "basically your saying i have to pay to ship it back up there and when it does get there, then you guys will refund me?" He pauses a second asks me to hold, comes back and tells me to email him my contact info and he'll send me back a shipping label that i can send it back for free with, so i emailed him my info this past monday, its saturday now and i still havent heard back, i've called 3 times and left messages, emailed the guy 2 more times asking what the deal is and haven't heard a peep!

This is complete and utter B.S.! APR is causing me all this trouble for something i didn't even order, i've been having to borrow from my friends for over a week now to get by and since my paycheck is direct deposited it went towards my negative balance yesterday! For all this they should at the VERY LEAST refund me ASAP and trust me to mail the part back to them, and even then i would be getting the short end of the stick seeing as i've had to live with 0 dollars for over a week now, I feel like i deserve SOME compensation here this whole situation is 100% THEIR fault!

Even with all this they still expect me to mail it back and wait until it gets there for my refund, what do you guys think? does anyone have a friend or know somebody higher up in APR that i can call? This is just insanity.....

I didn't mention any names here of course i don't want anyone losing their job...but damn....

why not call your bank and dispute the charge, the bank will put the money in your account and your done. I had to do that when i purchased something on ebay and i paid and it never showed up and it was over $500 and paypal only credited me $200 because that's all the coverage they offered so i called my bank (Chase) and disputed the claim and the extra $300 that wasn't covered by paypal was in my account by the time i hung up the phone. I would try that and then the bank might refund you your overdraft fees becasue it's not your fault, and make sure you explain to the bank the shit you had to go through and then they will go after APR for the finance charges. Remember the banks are on your side.

Yeah I've called my bank about it (bank of america) they said that once APR refunded me the full amount they would most likely be able to refund the overdraft fee's, so i should be able to get it all back into the (+)positive but its all this time i've just been languishing around with absolutely no money, had to cancel several things i had planned, all because of APR, and those are the things that i can't get back, which is why i think APR owes me compensation.

I'll look into disputing the charge with my bank, that sounds like it will be a bit faster than what APR seems to think is an appropriate time line for me to get my refund, but thats one of those things that can get APR itself in trouble as a business (not saying they shouldn't, because they should) but if APR can get their act together and get me a refund as well as something for basically stealing 180 dollars from me for nearly 2 weeks then i would rather do that and have everyone go home happy.

I just want to know if anyone in this forum has a connection at APR with someone who knows what they're doing and has the power to actually do something about my situation.

Always pay with a credit card. It can be disputed by you if there is a problem, and the money will immediately go to your account until it is resolved. The credit card companies are much more customer friendly in this type situation. Also, if you have a Bank of America account, you can check all balances online which would have let you know right away that you were being charged for this even though you were told something different by APR.

I don't mean to be a cock, but seriously - you can't blame APR for you being 485$ negative - I agree it's a shitty situation but come on, take some responsibility in this, don't buy parts you can't afford - Certainly APR might be complicit but they aren't the only ones to blame...

+1. My CC company (Chase) has always been extremely helpful and easy to work with, while my bank will try to shaft me everytime I call. The one CS rep actually told me that I "am probably forgetful and actually made the fraudulent charge." Wow was I pissed off, that precipitated out of the ECS tuning CC number theft a few years ago.

I always use my CC when I pay a company or person, especially via PayPal. Chase has your back, PayPal and PNC (my bank) dont give two shits.

Very true, of course i could've put myself in a better situation before it happened seeing as i was kind of suspicious when i didn't get any sort of order cancellation confirmation email, and should've just kept enough money to cover it in there, but the whole reason i canceled it was because i knew i wouldn't have the money, and in the end it really is ultimately their responsibility to take care of me as a customer.

Update: APR finally processed my refund and my bank was able to refund my fee's....joy.... I still think they could at least throw me a bone and give me like 50% off my next apr purchase (i mean excluding like a 3+ kit) for all the trouble they caused......*grumble*

    Re: APR Customer Service B.S....

    Last week:

I called APR a few times about buying a snub mount and having APR install it (their new shop is 50 minutes away from me). The lady that answered the phone every time I called knew nothing, but she was nice and more than willing to transfer me to whomever I wanted to talk with.

I talked with a mechanic and he said they wouldn't charge more than three hours labor to install the mount.

I drive on over to their new shop and they get to work on my car. Install was supposed to take 2 - 3 hours, but I asked them to look at my windshield washer fluid tank as it was leaking. They had no problems tacking on the extra work as the hard part is getting to the tank.

It took them a little over three hours to get the snub mount installed. They thought they had fixed the tank as well, but it was clearly leaking when they pulled my car around. I showed the mechanic and he takes it back into the shop. Two hours go by and the mechanic comes out and shows me a part he had accidentally broken and was going to retrofit a replacement.

Another hour and a half roll by and my car is pulled out front again. Washers all work and the tank is not leaking.

The bill listed 2.5 hours labor and $40 for the mount. Car is fixed and the snub mount really has made shifting a pleasure. All the guys that work there seemed nice and knowledgeable. They stuck to their word and didn't charge me beyond the quoted price.

I highly recommend APR's shop in Alabama.
