    1st Is the Altenator from a 2000 s4 going to work in a 2001.5 s4 motor?
I dont know what Altenator(bosch or valeo) the motor had since there is nothing there.
    2nd The shifter box from a 2000 s4 would it be compatible with a 2001.5 s4 tranny?

Re: Need to know a few things

the plug and pulley styles are different on the bosch/vaelo i beleive. so id assume youd have to match it up to the plug on the harness.

i couldnt tell you about the years though.. im not sure on that one

the shifters should be the same

isn't the rev, erse position different on the those models iirc the reverse on 01 is push down, left side and forward(close to 1st gear) and the 00 is push down right side and back (close to 6th gear)?

I don't think the shifter boxes are the same, as all the aftermarket SS are made in 2 versions, the "old style" shifter for 00 and "new style" for later 01 and 02

The pulley is different from bosch to valeo. If you're putting on a used one, just compare it to the old one and swap if need be(you'll probably need impact air to get it off). Remans sometimes come with a new pulley, sometimes don't.

Re: Need to know a few things

Either alternator will work as long as they have there own pulley. The pulleys are not interchangable. In my experience most parts places get the bosch(just make sure it comes complete with pulley). I am running a bosch on my car that originally had a valeo.

Box will be fine. All B5 S4s in the states have push down towards 1st. Only the 5 speed pre facelift b5s had it next to 4th.
