    So.. I'm screwed.. right?

I let a friend drive my car yesterday and he gets back 20 minutes later. So I get in to leave and nail it out of there. The clutch slipped pretty bad.. I noticed it was a bit hot when I let it out but I didn't think it was that bad. Tell me it's okay.. please.

When a clutch slips it is either due to the clutch being worn down or a leak in the hydraulic system. Does the pedal pressure feel any different?

he might have just glazed the clutch disk over (poor driving on his part) Let the car sit over night and then it should be back to normal.

    Hopefully

Sorry to hear. I always have my cousins and friends asking me if they can drive my car and i tell them no. I dont want to go through the trouble of fixing something. Keep us updated with the problem.

    Re: So.. I'm screwed.. right?

yeah i'm not gonna let anyone touch that drivers seat but me haha. But that sucks dude. The worst thing was once in my old honda civic i had a manual. So in front of my friend's house there is this MONSTER hill. And he was an auto. Basically to be a dick he would move like 5 feet and then come to a full stop and then go again with me behind him. Making me stop and go all the way up this hill which is a good 200 yards+. And this was my first car and my first manual. So basically by half way up the hill it smelled like an old fireworks show outside . It was burning up pretty bad... luckily nothing bad happened at all and it was ok. But i was mad at him for doing that to me.

If its a stage 3 or stage 4 you should be ok once it has cooled down. He most likely just got the organic side to hot causing it to slip when you gunned it out of there.

O'Rly? Enlighten us on how the hydraulics of a clutch will make it slip.

lol... that was a good one, but he has an out... if the fluid leaks onto the disc it will leak, but then it needs a new disc and slave cylinder too...

Mine will slip too if not careful, but its because I didn't use a stiff enough PP :( (6 puck ceramic disc tho).

Yeah.. It's done. It slips even with partial throttle in 1st gear.. Still in vacuum

Greg or Mike- So I order a new clutch now and get the flywheel resurfaced right?

Southbend can fix what you have for about $250. are you able to remove the clutch on your own? If not do you have a place you can store your car for a week with the tranny out?

Give myself or Mike a call and we can get you a RMA number from Southbend.

Most likely just need to replace the disk instead of the whole clutch. Pressure plate should still be good and yes you can get the flywheel resurfaced.

Well I went and drove it again and it's not slipping anymore. So that's good but I don't think it will last as long as it usually would so we'll see. Thanks everyone for the responses. And thanks Greg and Mike for your input. I'll definitely call you guys if I ever need to buy anything for the Audi. DTH FTMFW!!!!!!

Should be fine, sounds like it deglazed itself with a little driving.
