Question Help! - Engine codes can't find much...

    Hi,
I have a B6 Avant - but a friend bought a 99 A4 from his brother... I pulled these codes from his car. It is getting about 17mpg on the last tank. I am thinking the MAF could be causing some of this, but the first code is a little hard to find info on. I cleared everything, and will check with him on monday and do another scan.

    6 Faults Found:

17746 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Open or Short to Plus
    P1338 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

    Can anyone shed some light?

    thanks in advance

The MAF wouldnt be a bad place to start. Maybe you should go to Autozone and pick up some electrical parts cleaner and clean your MAF, but do it right.

OK - got a new MAF installed - and have it seems to have removed two more of the codes... here is what is left- Also the car is running really rich about burns your eyes when you come to a stop light and sit for a minute.

I get an error when I try to run throttle body alignment - also the throttle only goes from 3.5% - 85% (what the heck does that mean?)

You need a new O2 sensor and throttle body. Also may have a vac leak for thoe leans faults.
