    Well since you're broke...

18" tires cost more than 17" tires.

18" wheels are more likely to bend from impact with potholes, bad road surface, etc. Where in NJ are you? How are the roads there? Do you ever drive into the city?

If you're going for looks, go 20"

If you're going for optimal handling, go 17" and spend the money on good tires. 18s won't give you better handling. Our cars are too big, heavy and tippy to take advantage of a short sidewall. You need some height for compliance, etc. There's a lot out on the 'net about this...

18"s wont look good being unlowered, 17"s were bad enough.

If your not gonna lower it go with 17's for sure.....also do you have sport or non sport suspension?

Pic of my car with 18's non-lowered for reference:

    Re: 18's or 17's

Are you 4x4 status or "sport" suspension?

Either way, for a DD no track usage 18's will look good on a lowered car, or even a sport susp car. A car that gets tracked 17's are the way to go. 18's are too big for performance and often too heavy.

Here's a diff angle to show how stock sport suspension sits with 17's

    Lowerrr
IMO, dont do rims unless you lower it.
I used to think it didnt look "that bad", but if you put wheels on anything with the stock suspension, it wont look right.

I have almost forgotten what stock ride height looks like on B5's. All the ones I see at work are slammed, and mine sags in the rear a bit.
Until we get a 4x4 status customer come in and I laugh my ass off.

    Re: 18's or 17's

i had 19s i just put on some 17s if you want to be slammed go 17s or 18s. 19s and 20s look to big, when i had my 19s i was really really low, as low as i could go without rolling my fenders, but yeah it sucked because my tires were so thin and i was afraid of bending a rim on a pothole or something....
