    Ay, there's the rub

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Patient is an '01 A4 1.8t quattro avant, lowered Eibach springs, 17x8 wheels with 245/40/17 tires.

I'm getting some rub on compression...it seems to be mostly the plastic inner fender liner. It looks like I'm rubbing through the liner at the top of the wheel arch. It also looks like this will chew up the edge of the liner and cause it to come apart...

Do people remove this liner completely or just deal with the occasional rubbing/noise?

    Thanks!

I had to roll my front fenders with 235/40/18's on an 18x8 wheel. Any pics of your setup? I was thinking of going with a 245 next summer.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow. By the way, I had some very light rubbing with 235s on this car, same wheels. So little that I didn't know (never heard it) until I saw the marks on the tire, mostly right front.

When you roll the fenders, what do you do with the inner liner?

I ended up cutting the edge of the liner near the fender lip. I tried to cut it so it would go into the fender once it was rolled but it was tough. Part of the liner didn't go into the fender lip but you really can't notice it unless you're close up.

Roll the lips and trim the liners. I've run that size without any rubbing after trimming the liner.
