Hey guys, i think its almost time for a new car. I currently have a 2000 a4 fwd 1.8T and i was thinking of going with a b7 s4 for my next car 6speed. I was wondering how daily drivable the b7 s4 is would it be comparable to my a4 in comfort wise (i mean the clutch) and also my a4 seems to have many many problems such as interior ripping and falling apart my window regulators breaking on me my steering wheel and rear view mirror melting can i expect things like this out of the b7 s4? Im kinda iffy on staying with audi due to all the trouble my a4 has given me i need some motivation help me out guys...

Quality has improved a lot with the B7 vs your B5. I have just under 50k well modified miles without any major problems. Drivability in the S4 is great and it is extremely comfortable. I did 14 hours straight behind the wheel with only 3 stops without any issues.

I don't think a 2 year old car will have interior problems like in your 8, almost 9 year old car.

I have a great 07 S4 that I'm selling. Still under warrenty with only 22000 miles. Can't address any "future" problems but the car has none now. Sorry to see it go, but willing to at a great price for the buyer. If interested email me. I am very motivated and not in a red flag way. I have the replacement car in the driveway already. I'm in Sacramento so not that far away.

The B6/B7 cars have a far higher quality interior than the B5 cars did. My 03' Avant has 86k on clock and the interior looks almost brand-new. The driver's seat shows no sign of wear, and I'm not easy on seats.... I'm 225lbs.

I didn't check where you live, but you can always take a look at carmax... they will let you drive anything on their lot. Plus, they can give you a ballpark figure of what your car might be worth. I know I have done that everytime I have changed cars... and I will do that again before I change cars. I've been able to use carmax's value as a negotiating tool with the new car dealer at getting more money out of my old car.

just don't get a 2004 S4 built before 11/03...i believe it has the timing belt instead of the timing chain....B7 is probably a better choice but later built B6 are very nice cars as well

I went from a B5 S4 (first owner) to a B6 S4 (first owner). The B6 feels a lot more substantial. The clutch is similar but the B6 transmission is much more precise and less rubbery. I never drove a B7 S4 but I drove a B7 A4 loaner and I could tell it was a newer model than mine.

audi's interior has been improved a lot with the B7 compare to B6 and B5.
no more peeling problems or anything falling apart.

    I haven't driven a S4 but I drove a S5 and I drove a A4 with clutch before. the clutch in the S cars won't be heavy.

Re: THinkin of getting a s4

I went from a 2000 1.8T A4 to my S4. Interior build quality is MUCH better. I find the ride to be more comfortable better with my stock S4 vs my A4 with Bilstein/Neuspeed Sport setup. I even think it handles better. Clutch isn't noticeably harsher. Overall everything about my B7 S4 is better than my B5 A4 (besides fuel economy) and I have zero regrets except not waiting just a few months for the prices of the B7 RS4 to drop.
