    Brakes question

I had my car aligned and now tires put on and both shops tell me that my brakes are bad, which I knew. I was going to be replacing them soon.

Anyway the second shop said that I shouldnt wait too long because if the pads get too low the pistons can push out too far where they wont want to go back in so it ruins the calipers.

He said he wasnt trying to sound like he was selling me service but just wanted to let m eknow. I told him I was gong to be replacing rotors and pads myself soon.

What he said made sense, but has anyone had that happen or hear of that happening.

I do realize it means I could upgrade my calipers, but I dont want to spend the money on that right now.

    Re: Brakes question

Yeah, that could happen because the piston reaches a point where it has never been. Mine were fine when i did them my brake light had been on for a while, the inner pads had about 1/64 left on them and my calipers were fine, just be cautious when pushing the pistons back in.
