Who's ordered a B8 Avant?

So, I joined this forum to learn about my potential new car next spring.
I love how the new A4's are looking and really hope to get an Avant 2.0T.

Has anyone ordered one?
What are the wait times?
Any incentives I should know about?
Any options that I must get?
Any news on manual tranny's in the Avants?

If you're wondering, I currently own a '07 VW GTI and before that, a '05 VW Jetta Wagon.

I miss my wagon, but looking for something peppy, AWD and somewhat spacious...

Interested in your thoughts/experiences/comments. TIA

No manual tranny announced for the avant, only for the sedan which can be ordered this December. Kind of unfortunate as the avant 2.0T six speed would be my choice if I was looking for a new car. I think for the sedan, if you order in December it should arrive in March from what I've read.

Options? Fully loaded :) But at a minimum ... sports suspension, maybe Drive Select (which would also include the sports suspension), sports seat, LED/xenon headlights, B&O. Skip the side assist, parktronics, etc., but we don't really have this choice here as things are put together in packages. Looking at the 2009 A4 brochure, the premium would be what I would get and add on the colour DIS, B&O, homelink and advanced key and start button. Other options includes rear side airbags, side assist, advanced parking w/ rear camera, wood trim, adaptive front lighting and 18" 10-spoke alloys with 255/35 summer performance tires.

i think i could live with having an auto-wagon... after all, my fiance cannot drive a manual.
sport suspension is a must.
i'm kind of hoping there is a s-line or similar?
i supposed i should go grab a catalogue from the dealer that details the 'packages'.

I don't know if the S-line can be ordered or not, I've read some posts on AW where the S-line is an option now that can be ordered for the sedan.

I say get the S-line package. The sport seats that comes with it and the subtle external changes really enhances the looks.

they do look great.
i've got the upgraded leather seats in my GTI.
i'd certainly be looking for something similar in my next VAG vehicle.

Last I check, Canadian sport seat don't have suede insert; only US model did. Can anyone clarify?

Neil, we should go see Alex and get a B8 for a test spin. I took one out a couple weeks ago and it was much different from the B7.

I had a test drive with an Apex driving school instructor. 2.0T Avant without sports suspension, and boy was I impressed!

Much better handling, very balanced already, and the engine is smooth, pulls with alot of torque, much better than by B6 3.0L (but not the 4.2L V8 :)

I can only imagine the sports seats and suspension would make this amazing. I was thinking of getting an S6 avant b/c it is easier for car seats, but i might consider the B8 avant, it is quite roomy

Its bigger feeling inside. Its more my size now..you might feel lost in it. ;) The trunk is huge. Although, it didn't seem like the Avant was much bigger than the sedan in terms of trunk space, it obviously would be more user friendly for you.

But its screaming for bigger, nicer wheels.

i'm looking for somethine sporty & roomy. not an easy combo.

just to have the ability of the hatch rear end makes it so easy to load and unload items.
bigger is ok. too big, your right, i'll get lost in!

The car is noticeably bigger for sure outside, but inside, it's not a significant amount. For the driver up front, it feels a wider. For the rear leg room in the back, it's a bit more but i wouldn't say it's a lot more. Maybe compared to the B5 it's quite an improvement, but changes from the B5 to B6/B7 to now the B8 have been incremental.

2.0 has single exhaust, 3.2 has dual exhaust. I also noticed the auto doesn't come with the paddles for the tiptronic mode

Correction... for the avant, it actually has dual exhaust (left and right) for the 2.0T and there's no 3.2 for the avant.

and, do you know what the approximate lead-times are?

5yr finance rate is 5.9%
bmw is 3.9%
(as of today)
drove a 2008 A4 sedan yesterday with the auto...
cant handle the auto.
any news on a manual transmission being offered in the avant?
