    stupid question about darintake

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
whats up everyone got a quick dumb question for ya. the other day i went and did the darintake mod on my s4 i cut the bottom out and installed window mesh instead of just drilling holes. i have a drop in filter and forge 007 dvs. i def noticed a change in throttle response but there has been no sound change what so ever, i know there diffrent motors but my buddy has a 2003 a4 with a carbonio intake and stock dv and u can here the pressure release. my dvs are holding pressure theres no leaks any where should i be hearing any diffrence in sound. i read ppl having a complete change after doing the darinake but i honestly havent heard anythign change.
just my own curiosity thanks in advance

ps. read online there in the process of making a goonies sequel i cant belive this

I did the mod the same way and I didn't notice a big increase in sound. I can't hear the dv's at all.

you won't notice the DV's any extra because of intake on our cars, doesn't work like the 1.8t's

    Re: stupid question about darintake

I can hear my dvs a little but nothing too loud. I could hear them before I did the darintake as well. Haven't really noticed any change in noise, maybe a little but nothing significant

Not sure if it's the mod or type of intake you run, when i put my intake in i didn't do the Darintake mod but, i could hear the intake sucking in air and at partial throttle when i let off the DV's sounded a little like blow off's but not as loud.

    Re: stupid question about darintake

Mine actually got alittle quieter after i did mine, however as of late i can hear the turbos spool up pretty well. I also have the S-slow intake so that may have had something to do about it. But the DV's are still relatively quiet

The filter you want is the AEM dry flow filter, Any filter that needs to be recharged with the oil is a no go as that is what makes the MAF flake out.

timing all depends on what you do. technicly if u jus want to drill the holes you can prob do it in 5 min if you drill the box while its still in the car. mine took about half hour without drying time. i removed the box cut out the entire bottom and replaced it with screen mesh. the only time consuming part is allowing the jb weld to dry

Don't worry, you're not the only one who didn't hear any significant change in sound.

    Re: stupid question about darintake

ok so i can just buy the awe-s flow intake and just drill holes on the bottom on the airbox and then put it back together and thats it? the cone filter just sits in the stock airbox without any problems...?

Well, when riding in the summer with the windows down and going into WOT, i DO hear this WHIIIIIIISH/WOOOOOOOOOSH noise coming from the passenger front. Sounds like a hoover vaccuum on crack!

    Does that count?
