    VEI gauge Problems!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ever since I have put in my VEI boost gauge I have had problems with it. Has anyone else had problems that is running one? It will light up the psi and vac lights at the bottom and sometimes even show a 0 where the numbers are before I start the car but then it will show no numbers after the car is running. I can shut the car off and come back 10 minutes later and start the car and it will work then it could work every time that day then not work the next. I'm starting to get aggrevated with it, I have checked that the hose isnt pinched or something like that and it's clearly getting power fine since the lights for the little icons light up but no damn numbers appear sometimes. It is like a 50/50 chance that it is gonna work.

Winston, if you see this what is the deal?

    Re: VEI gauge Problems!

Where are you tapping the gauge in for power?

If you have it tapped into the dimmer wire then that is your problem.

Let me know and we'll get this problem fixed.

I have it connected to a add a circuit fuse deal in my fuse box that is plugged in to a fuse spot that gets keyed power that I checked with my test light.

    Re: VEI gauge Problems!

Can you confirm the voltage going to the gauge?

It requires a minimum voltage to operate properly and if this is not reached then the display does not light up even though the logos do.

I originally hooked my VEI gauge to the dimmer and it would flicker or not work and when I realized when I opened my door the gauge would light up that is due to the fact it was getting enough power.

Now if the gauge is getting proper power and still does not display properly then the power supply in the gauge may be faulty. If this is the case we'll get that fixed for you.

I dont have an ohm/volt meter, but I will put it in another spot in the fuse box and try that and I will check what spot I have it in currently and tell you.

My switchable power is tapped in the steering column like what Martini did in his Turbo Timer DIY on a4mods.com

I'm not running a VEI gauge though...

You can try tapping it to the same fuse for the fuel pump and see if that makes the gauge function properly or not.

And which VEI gauge do you have?
