    2.8 Engine Swap

I am new to this forum and somewhat new to the Audi world, so please forgive me if this question seems a little green.

I have a 1996 A4, front wheel drive with a 2.8L V-6, 12 valve engine that is blown-up. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2.8 V-6, 30 Valve engine from a 1999 A-4 Quattro. Is this a simple swap or would it be a bit more involved because of first; the number of valves being different in the two cars, and second, the original is front wheel drive vs. the donor being all wheel drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks much.

    FWD vs. AWD doesnt matter...

Youll need the new harness and ECU but I'd imagine itll bolt right up

Did you do the swap and if so what did you end up needing?

    Thanks

    Re: 2.8 Engine Swap

You will need the harness from the 30 valve engine and the ecu. this harness will not work with the older 12 valve interior harness, so you will need to splice the two harnesses together or to make things even better, try to put the newer harness from your 30 valve into your 96 a4. good luck.
