My next project... What do you think? Vote!

So I figure I'm about done with my B6 and want to move onto my next Avant project. There are two different directions that I'm thinking of going and would like the opinion of some Avant Brethren.

    Here are the options:

    B5 S4 Avant
    Mods will include:
    • Complete OEM body conversion
    • Stage 3
    • Full Stasis package including Motorsport suspension, brakes, diffs and swaybars
    • BBS magnesium wheels

    Or...

    B7 S4 Avant
    Mods will include:
    • Complete OEM B7 RS4 body conversion
    • VF supercharger
    • Full Stasis package (same parts as above)
    • HRE P40's

There are some pro's and cons to both, but keep in mind that this will be a project car, not really a daily driver for me.

    What do you think?

Go for the B5 S4 to RS4. You don't see enough of them. Plus, you'll love the power of stage 3!

I almost went the B5 S4-to-RS4 conversion route, but had my heart set on the Ur S6.

So...I'd probably steer ya towards the B5, if you can find a decent manual trans specimen to work on. B7 would be sick too, but the power potential to overall cost (and fuel savings ratio) wouldn't be as great.

DAMN YOU! Such a hard choice. I voted B7 RS4 Avant though - I want a ride with that VF S/C...and other than an RS6 Avant, that thing's my dream.

Even though I currently have a B5 Avant, this is a tough call. I really like both cars. A well done RS4 (B5) is IMO the ultimate Audi project to take on.

    B5 RS4

    That is my next project.

I had a dream last night of import one outright. Then getting a B5 S4 sedan and making that a 3.0L GT28RS monster.

Then again..... I just found this (again) and love the satin black.

BUT>.. B5 RS4 in Satin Black ooohhh aggggh!

Re: My next project... What do you think? Vote!

I'm sorta leaning towards the B7 right now. It will be a bigger initial investment, but the parts end up being a little cheaper for it since they were mass produced for the B7 RS4's in the states. Plus, a guy literally down the street from me has a real B5 RS4 avant.

I'm thinking in the long run, the B7 will be a bit more reliable too.

Yeah i would be biased but, there are people who have done B5 RS4 conversion already.
Going with the B7 S4 will open new doors and idea's for those who haven't done it or thinking it and were waiting for someone else to pull the trigger.
hard to decide, then again if given the choice i would rather convert my B5 instead of buying a buying a B7 to convert it.

I want a B5 S4 Avant so bad. I really wish I would have waited before I bought my A4 Avant. Don't get me wrong I still love it, errr... well except the fugging fugged up TIPTRAGIC TRANNY, But I just love the B5s better for some reason. I voted B5 S4.....

I know. I was sold on a B5 until I stumbled up on those satin photos of a B7. Such a hard decision. I really like the twin turbo 2.7 motor but the B7 styling is equally as nice as the B5, but in a different way. When in doubt, how about both?

*tony, if your worrying about weight or handling.. dont look at the b5, especially s4..

i would still do the b7... unless you plan on changing out the the rear diff in the b5...
i dunno, i think you could end up with more power in the b7 and have a more refined chassis and drivetrain.. as well as being more OG..
