steering rack HELP

my sterring rack is leaking and i am looking for the cheapest way to fix this.. the labor is $400 alone and i just spent way to much and now im alil broke in college..

buy a rebuilt one and replace it yourself. With a rebuilt lifetime guarenteed rack, the 12pt 10mm socket and OEM power steering fluid i paid 300 bucks. took about 2.5 hours to do myself with the writeup

wait so your saying that you pulled and installed the rack yourself? cuz the labor im paying $400. 2 different shops told me it would take 4 hrs and then after they have to do an alignment?

yeah i pulled and replaced the rack all by myself. never done it before just followed a write up from audiworld. and that was with very conservative timing. i kept rechecking the writeup to make sure i was doing it right. i could probably do it now in 45 mins with a helper.

shops charge you by the book. they have a book that says how much time everything should take and they charge you by that. it didnt take me nowhere near 4 hours and thats for sure. if you were in nyc i woulda done it with you for just some pizza and a 6 pack. i got all the tools and all you would need is the rack and fluid
