    Re: Roof Racks

Craigslist always has racks popping up, key your eye out there.

Otherwise, bike shops often deal with Thule or Yakima, drop by and see what they can do for a setup.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    just a suggestion...

as with everything, after you use it the first time, it's used.

    rack attack sells used items.

you'll need a fit kit, foot and bars + your application attachment.

it's easy to find used bike, ski & snowboard attachements.

i'd call them and see if they have anything used to sell you, better yet, just stop in.

otherwise, car racks rarely go on sale as they are used year round and rarely get updated, kind of a staple really.

*i work at a toronto bike & snowboard retailer (part time)... i've even purchased at rack attack and sent customers there.

I've shopped around and rackattack usually had the best prices.

Once you know what fits and if you're comfortable with ebay, check out stuff there. I paid under $350 for a Thule setup (feet, bars, fairing, locks, ski and bike attachments) that's worth approx. $650. new.

I don't know if you're interested in a SportRack set up or not, but I believe it will fit your car. (confirmed on the Fit Guide - same fittings I used on my old Mazda 6) I've got this posting up on Kijiji. Have a look and let me know if you're interested. $200 for racks and 2 bike carriers. I also have a brand new cargo box (used once Aug. long weekend) - paid $450 in July, might be willing to part with it for the right price.

    Re: Roof Racks

I have a Saris rack and I really love it. I always thought the actual load bars were nicest from Saris... but Thule/Yakima attachments are definitely better.

I only use it for my bikes, though... and the fork mount rack is a pretty difficult thing to screw up. My Saris one works great.

I bought mine after seeing an ad on either pinkbike.com or canadiancyclist.com -- I can't remember which. I paid 240 for the load bars, feet (which happened to fit my car--apparently some Hyundai has the same feet as my B5 A4), and also two fork-mount bike carriers.

I've now bought new feet (just last week) and put it on my B6 A4.
