    Tiptronic Woes

Haven't posted for a while. The Avant was broken into and had some damage done to it, but more on that later. My current problem is with the Tiptronic. While driving along at speed if I push the accelerator pedal down the car will downshift and speed up fine, then it acts as if it gets confused as to what gear to go into b/c it will go from 4th to 5th back and forth until I let up on the pedal. If I put it into TIP and try the same thing the car downshifts to 3rd, speeds up and then gets confused again. It is very frustrating. I'm afraid to go to the dealer b/c of the APR Stage 1+ tuning, exhaust, coils, wheels, etc... I don't want them to blame it on being a "Modded" car and flag it in the system. Is this a coding error and can it be fixxed by Vag? Any ideas?

Also have an airbag light on and since I put an HID kit in my fogs I'm getting a burned bulb light.

    Re: Tiptronic Woes

i dont have tip, but from what ive gathered its pretty common with chipped tiptronics.. maybe try driving is S mode and see if it feels any better.??

Edit: and i do think there is some sort of a solution with VAG.

    Re: Tiptronic Woes

Thanks. I've read that thread before and still seem a lil confused as to which code to put in for my 03 1.8T TIP and if it should be old or new strategy. Also wonder if the DSP be disabled in the coding. It drives me crazy to try to accelerate and the car act as if it doesn't know what to do...........

    Re: Tiptronic Woes

Ian at EPWerks in Indianapolis fixed it for me! Works much better now. He does great work and is very fair on his pricing. Drives an APR race car and carries the full APR line. Thanks Ian!

What did he do for you to rectify the shifting problems?
