Any one else had issue with bent Audi oem rims? I have the factory 18s for the S-line pkg, nailed a massive pothole on a curve only about 20-25mph. thought i was ok but over the last 2 months im pretty sure it wore a flat spot in my tires. i can hear it now, i took it to a tire shop and when the spin the wheels you can see both passanger side rims werent prefectly round anymore.

there is a shop nearby they can supposedly fix most bent rims, takes a few hours a piece he said, about $75 a rim. so im gonna try it out on monday...

Anyone bent one and had it fixed ok? did it toast your tires driving on it? im also worried that the vibration will cause premature wear on the struts.

    thanks all

When you saw the wheel was out of round, did they still have their tires on them? The tire may be disformed, not the rim. You may have lucked out. The real way to tell if a wheel is bent is to put it on a balancing machine without tires. If the weights required are astronomically high on either side, it's safe to say it's bent.

    Re: Bent Rims

everything was still mounted, it was up on a lift spinning one tire made them all spin. So we were looking on the inside of the rim where it meets the tire.

they guy at the shop seemed pretty cool, so hopefully if it wasnt the rim he would tell me and not charge me. im assuming he would tell when he put it on his 'super-duper-rim-fix-o-matic' ;)

oh, and they did balance them for me but he said the worst was like less then .5oz out of balane? .. im not sure if thats a lot or not.
one more thing... where do you guys get the Alignments done? the dealer?

The dealer is the smart place to go because they have the appropriate tools. Me and my buddies at a local NTB winged it on my car. The directions for the front alignment said it required some special VAG tool; we said fuck that and got a crescent wrench lol. The rears anybody can do.
