    034 300MM Rear upgrade Complete

Overall the kit is solid. Though it can be improved upon. When the calipers are installed on the brackets the hand brake lines are too short. I had to break the plastic that holds the hand brake line in the control arm so that I can pull on the line to have it fit onto the caliper. Also the fact that you have the shave down a bit of the upright to have one of the bracket bolts fit in was a minor inconvenience. Now onto the stopping power. I brought the car up to 130 or so and went about 3/4 brake to see how quickly the brakes shave speed. The car Stops really quickly. (Mind you I have front S4 2piston brakes) I recommend the kit to anyone who wants to do the work. It took me a few good hours to install taking my time on a lift. I just wish someone made a bigger pad to cover the entire rotor. I'm running Hawk pads front and rear.

Teaser to my S4 OEM BBK write up.

How much did the kit cost? I'm thinking of doing a rear BBK later down the road after I install my boxster front

So how does the 034 300mm rear brakes compare to S4 rear brakes?

I am about to swap S4 brakes front and rear onto my car.

3/4 brake tells you nothing. Full panic stops tell you everything. Even more so on wet roads.

Well that answers my question about if they were joking when they said "17 inch wheels required.

... Looks good though. Something was rubbing on that caliper though

I got those Calipers from a junkyard, I got them like that. Yet to paint them. Got to repaint the front as well.

The fact that there is more braking surface means that the brakes dissipate heat much faster. I can certainly say the brakes feel better than they do in a S4. The car is lighter which makes complete sense.

The brackets are like 70ish, I got the rotors for like 80 bucks for the pair, and the brake lines were a little over 100. Calipers cost me 250 from the junkyard, I had a friend rebuild them for me.

How much would your friend charge to rebuilt a set of calipers?

Wow....you paid a TON for those calipers.....stock B5 S4 calipers, right?....if so, auto-parts.com is the way to go, especially if u were getting them rebuilt anyway. Sets sell for around $100 all the time.....oh well. I'd also be interested in the cost of a rebuild, since I plan to do a similar rear brake mod some time soon

Well I didnt pay anything for it, so I honestly have no idea how much a caliper rebuild would generally be. He changed all the seals out for me.

    A4's had single piston
    S4's had two piston.

Makes a big difference, especially when shaving highway speeds.

Dude, AutohausAZ has "rebuild kits", meaning a new Lathe cut seal, dust boot and bleeder screw for like $7. It takes 15 mins to swap in those new parts.

Re: 034 300MM Rear upgrade Complete

Ok thank you for the information, i just bought S4 calipers and carriers, thinking of just S4 rotors for now since i only have A8 fronts.

But once i upgrade my A8 to BBK, then i will get 034 adaptors and B7 S4 rear rotors to finish up.

I'm going to do this during the summer to compliment my boxster brakes up front. It seems like an in expensive way to really improve the looks and performance. I have always thought the a4 rears were very under sized.

S4 calipers are wider so they can accommodate a larger vented rotor.
