If I were you, I would do the Audi A8 brake upgrade.
Bigger A8 rotors, and Audi TT carriers that bolt right up, and get some nice pads.

well before "schooling" you, you have to specify a price range (more like limit). I like the kit you found but personally don't see a big reason to get marginally bigger brakes. My set up has always been simple but effective: X-drilled brembos in the front and brembo blanks in the back with HPS pads all around. If you are getting X-drilled or slotted rotors make sure they are drilled by a respectable 3 party (real x-drilled brembos are ridiculously) expensive. Its up to you and depends on how you drive and what your priorities are. If its looks: get bigger rotors - they'll look nicer, if its price+functionality: get drilled/slotted fronts and blank rears, if you're looking for ultimate performance: sky is the limit. Just make sure to get good pads - i think thats the most important thing. Also, once again watch out for cheap x-drilled rotors that claim to be brembos - they will crack and it won't be while you're standing at a light...

Re: K guys school me on brakes

Here's some respectable information to read up on before you choose cross-drilled vs. slotted vs. plain rotors:
    http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/577638.phtml
Short answer is: If you want performance, get slotted. If you want long life, get plain rotors.

Here's a nice link that describes exactly what is required for the A8 upgrade and answers any clearance questions you may ask (No need to pay attention to the rear brake upgrade if it isn't desired):
    http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel1.shtml

Here's a link to how to properly bed in your brakes:
    http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...contents.shtml

I suggest reading up on all these. I found them easily by looking through the Brakes section of the AudiWorld B5 FAQ.

    Hope this helps!

I actually just installed new rear brakes with ATE rotors and Hawk HPS pads. I would highly suggest Hawk HPS pads over Mintex unless you can't afford them. I upgraded all four wheels with Mintex Redbox pads on my old Jetta and they stopped ok but the brake dust was terrible. The Hawk pads don't dust as much and they are much better at stopping. Well worth the price especially when your life may depend on them!

The brembo rotors and hawk brake pads were found by the guy that's installing those for me. He owns his own auto parts company.

the one thing i have to say about hawk hps is that they do grip well, but squeal alot after a few thousand miles. I had EBC pads before the Hawks and they were much quieter

Get yourself a set of carriers from an S3 or TT. These allow you to run the 312mm A6 discs whilst retaining the standard caliper and pad (although you way as well change these for an uprated item whilst you're there).

A place between here and there

Re: K guys school me on brakes

Believe it or not, our stock brakes are rather effecient. You really would not know unless you applied the brakes for an emergency situation. Just place good brake pads all around, Goodridge SS brake lines and you are good to go. If you feel like stepping up the anty, then apply maybe some Motul brake fluid. But the stock brakes are very good. An upgrade is not really needed unless pushing big hp and torque. But if you want to upgrade, then do the A8 front upgrade w/ tt carriers and some good pads. There are many threads on what pads people have run with, thier reviews, and what they preferr (search).

Re: K guys school me on brakes

Personally I find the factory brakes only just above acceptable. They're fine for normal day to day driving but soon fade once a bit of spirited driving takes place. I'm intending on adding the caliper carriers, larger discs, uprated pads, braided lines and flush the whole system through with fresh fluid.

Depends how much of a hooligan you are behind the wheel I guess.

I find MJM Autohaus always seems to have the best prices on common aftermarket parts and it also helps that most of the stuff they sell has free shipping.

Here are the links: Front Back

    Total cost of $140.82.
