Shift Knob From A Passat?

Will a shift knob from a 98-05 Passat fit my B5? I tried searching because I would rather not waste an entire thread on this topic but I at least tried to title it so that anyone searching in the future can find the answer.

Depends on what year A4 you have, and more specifically what year Passat it is coming out of.

The 98-99 (maybe 00 as well) Passat knob screws in place, the newer B5.5 chassis Passats use a clamp on style knob.

Ok the ad says that it will fit a 98 - 05 Passat, but doesn't say what year it is from. Also in the research that I did, people on hear say that B6 A4 shift knobs will fit our B5's even though they are clamp style also. I am curious how that works.
