    Accordian Hose Replacement??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been searching for a replacement to the accordion hose, something solid like silicon or Kevlar material. I know if seen pictures of 2.7 motors with solid intake hoses. I think the company was AWE that made them. I cant find them anywhere I look. Any ideas or would i be wasting my time replacing it anyway?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dennis

the AWE accordion you are referring to is part of the stage 3 fueling kit they sell... there is no point in changing that unless you are going stage 3 with your car and at that time you change accordion hoses.... in my setup, which is another common route with that intake tube some call it is the RS4 accordion which is what I run, but for the RS4 accordion you need a larger MAF as well..

It sees absolutely no boost pressure what so ever. The stock one is good. If yours is bad, the dealer will have one and it should be very cheap. If you are going for looks then go to any place that sells silicone hoses and give them the size. This will make your airbox move with your motor though which is whole reason the accordian hose is there, so they can move independantly.

actually the accordian also serves as a noise baffle to eliminate the sound of air being sucked in...

I should be considering changing out my stock tbb before many other mods anyway.

    Re: Accordian Hose Replacement??

Unless you are AWE Stage 3, there is very little reason to use the AWE "accordian" hose. When the AWE Stage 3 kit for the B5-S4 was first released a few years back, it was discovered that the hose can collapse due to the vaccum created by air flow, which is why AWE now requires cutting of the airbox to allow more air flow to prevent this from happening. This is also why that most tuners (APR, MTM, EPL, ASP & VAST) all uses the RS4 accordian hose for their stage 3 kit when a larger than stock MAF housing is being used.

So, if you are pre-stage 3, there is no need to re-invent the wheel, just stay with stock accordian and you will be fine. If you are Stage 3 and beyond, unless you are AWE Stage 3, you should have the RS4 accordian hose already.

That and also the By-pass valves to 710N's. If you have an F-hose (MY2000), you should change that out too.

hard to say... did you do them correctly lol? serious question... did you copy the orientation of the old valves and install them that way? it could be another problem, i had the same issue, i had a CEL and all signs pointed to DV's... I replaced them and it ended up being my MAF sensor... I have a 2000 and before stage 3 I had the bosch sensor that is common to fail and cause a cut in power at like 3-4K

They shouldn't, unless you didn't install them correctly and there is a boost leak, or you have a defected BPV. VAG the car and see what the codes are.

My guess is that brittle vacuum line that the extra boost goes through the top of the DV is leaking, ill VAG it and also replace that vacuum line ASAP and see what happens.

Any ideas where to pick up some Samco 3mm vacuum line?
    Thanks guys,
    Dennis

I think PureMS & ECS tuning carries them, as many others. They are nothing that special that it has to be "Samco", you can even try your local autopart stores or just get the OEM ones. They are inexpensive and they work just as well. If there is indeed a leak, it is better to get it fixed ASAP as oppose to wait for something fancy like a silicone hose.
