rebuild h&r coilovers?

anyone ever successfully done this?

if so, where? how much per coil?

any ideas about doing this would be a great help.

I don't remember the exact cost, but I had looked into doing this a couple years back. I found a set of coils with two blown rears.....after doing some research, I found out that its a common problem among H&R coils, so I just stayed away....but I think it costs somewhere around $200 per coil

any idea where i would send them to get rebuilt? i tried calling h&r but they said they wouldnt do it...

tried calling bilstein also since most of h&r parts comes from them. said they could rebuild the rears. but wernt too sure about the fronts because they didnt reccognize the fronts part number

im having the same problem not being able to fins information..except my fronts need a rebuilt bad....

Hello All, Jeff here from Tampa.

many H+R dampers use common elements, therefore can be rebuilt with components available from the original damper manufacturer or the open market. However it's correct that it varies from model to model and Level of coil over. some times they require slight modification. the other option on models which are sealed or otherwise considered non-serviceable. can still be reverse engineered, and another threaded body damper with the correct valving substituted... with the cost similar to a rebuild this is often suggested as an option.

Occasionally we do have to fabricate components to facilitate servicing, but like many of our conversions the final product is 100% serviceable.

The first step is to send the damper assemblies into our facility. so we can clean and inspect them, The formal quote process does not incur any cost, and will usually contain several options, including Re-valve, single/Double adjustable conversion and or replacement.
