adding an hid conversion kit from vvme.com to my 02 a4 1.8t awd, wondering what everyone else used to seal the hole that they had to drill out of the plastic cover in the back of the headlight housing?

Re: How did you seal your hole? Hid Conversion

Haha seal your hole.... Ok sorry, on my bike I used rubber grommets and took apart the plug to fit the wiring through the grommet. Or you can use silicon glue and that will seal for a good amount of time.... lasted 1.5 years on my GTO and then it needed new glue - downside is it doesnt look very pretty.

it comes with a grommet, don't use anything permanent because they will fail and need replacing.

I have the 6000k right now but that looks too blue/not bright enough for me, going with the 5000k 55watt kit.

The grommet is more then enough, we have splash guards under out cars and the hood above. the grommets seal pretty tight and I can almost guarantee after the first 6 months you will have to replace something. Buy a ddm kit.

Re: How did you seal your hole? Hid Conversion

vvme has a good warranty, but you pay A SHIT TON to get stuff shipped because they are from china, ive gone through 2 ballast and 3 bulbs and one side always flickers. plus the ddm ballasts are 1/3 the size of the vvme kits.

All these kits use shitty Chinese bulbs... Their 55watt 5000K kits are no brighter than a genuine 35watt Philips 85122+

Re: How did you seal your hole? Hid Conversion

i did my vvme hid conversion one night and the next morning i washed my car, finding that i had condensation issues. I used the rubber grommet but i had to go back and silicone seal it up, a big pain in the ass. when you're there, just do it to avoid future headache
