hey guys i did search and am still searching but how long do you wait aftr you shut your car down to check the oil level...i seem to be getting all different levels based on time differences. in the owners manual it says a few minutes but if i turn off my car and check right away its halfway up the hashed area if i wait 2min its perfectly at the top hash mark-5 its a little over-10 its halfway between the neck and the top line of the hashes-and if sitting over night it will read just about half way between top hash and neck of hash markd area

    any body know for sure

Wait a little while til it cools down. Then you take the dip stick out, clean it with a clean rag, stick it right back in, take it out again, and then measure it.

your gunna switch to synthetic at 500?! I thought that you should be using regular oil until 1500 miles.

What oil filter are you using? It sounds like the check valve sucks. The Mann, Mobil 1, Wixx, etc that I've used are the "best" in my opinion.

For customer cars I check 2-3 mins after shut down. Personally I think there should be a procedure for checking the oil lever based on load, but that would be really difficult to do. At least a figure of "at idle it should be here" and "hold at 2500rpm, it should be here". I haven't ever seen anybody do that though.

Some engineer somewhere had to figure out why it's a XX.Xqt system, I want to know why.
