    iphone dyno app numbers-APR 1+

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was wondering if any of youz-guyz have played with the iPhone "dyno" type apps?

I made a few 0-60 runs with pocketdyno+ on my iphone and was wondering how realistic you find my results to be. If someone else running 1+ has comparable numbers, they would be cool to compare.

My average after four 0-60 runs (weeding out numerous obviously erroneous measurements) is 6.74 seconds in just about 400 feet, and 166 wheel horse power.

The lowest was 6.65, highest 6.93 (seconds)

*HP is based on an guess of 3750lbs including me. I think i should bump it up to an even 3800 after dinner though..... smoked ribs

I'm running TT injectors, APR 1+, Carbonio intake, neuspeed TIP.... in a 6 speed quattro

Re: iphone dyno app numbers-APR 1+

    which app did you buy?

There are a couple of free ones, a couple of pay ones.

I have a free one called Rev Lite - but you need to hook it up to your car's ODB II port (or whatever its called) to get accurate #'s.

I wonder if they'll make something like the CEL delete for an iPhone app?

Re: iphone dyno app numbers-APR 1+

    pocketdyno+

I've heard that dynolicious is more consistent.

Rev lite is called rev "lite" because only the g-meter is functional. They have plans of releasing a fully functional app, but you will need a dongle. How much is that fucking thing gonna cost? and how long will it take to release the program and dongle to the market?

If i get lazy enough that I can't lug my laptop to my car, and have to rely on my phone to clear a code, I should be shot. If my car throws enough codes that I have to keep my laptop in the car, my car should be shot.

What would really be the shit, is if they had a wifi or bluetooth OBDII plug to communicate with a laptop or iphone. DING DING.... We have a winner.

That's what devtoaster are working on for the Rev+ iPhone app. The OBDII plug should be ready next month, according to their website.

I have the Dynolicious, the PocketDyno+, and RevLite, but I have not been able to test them. From what I have seen on youtube and other forums (bmw mostly) the best one is Dynolicious but its the most expensive one ($12.99). Your numbers seem pretty accurate though...

my last run on my iphone (dynolicious) said 0-60 in 5.98 on a bogged launch (2.93 60') and the 1/8mi in [email protected]... this was uphill, around a curve, and letting off at the end on 15psi. (my 60' mph was 26.9, my 330' was 60.0 even, and 8th only 67.8 for reference)

said i was making 278awhp.... im WAS off to see how close that was but they're full for the day
time to run the car on dynolicious again lol

How is being quattro and tiptronic relevant to crank horsepower?

^^what i did was take the WHP numbers it gave me and multiply it by 1.352 which is essentially crank HP conversion factor i got off the web and it is correct we tried it on several cars on an B7 S4 we multiplied the WHP by 1.352 and we got 329CHP

more likely, it accounts for the weight he entered so that the app calculates any horsepower more correctly. boo-ya!

Re: iphone dyno app numbers-APR 1+

you could be at a light....

basically, you open the app, put your phone anywhere that it won't slide AT ALL, and press whatever button the program has that makes it "ready".

because you are stopped, there should only be gravitational force acting on the accelerometer, however, as soon as you accelerate, the phone only measures forward acceleration and calculates speed and distance based on acceleration and time.

when you brake after a run, the phone detects deceleration and typically shows you results up to how far and fast it calculated you went.

Pocketdyno - 6.4 0-60 and 354 HP not really sure if its accurate or if I did it 100% but its pretty cool for a free app. Im hacking my phone here soon anyway so I can grab some more free apps.

I gotta do this since I got a new SB st.1 clutch I can launch on now. Before I didn't really put any of the info besides make and model and dynolishous was giving me crazy numbers like 10 sec. but thats a combo of me not launching on a 90k old stock clutch and the specs of the car not being entered, as well as maybe the iphone moving during the test (my friend was holding it in his hand lol). But I'm APR 1+ as well with a few side mods, so I'd be happy to see those numbers.

It's not accurate, APR 1+ is more than 203 CHP. Regardless of transmission and drivetrain, they have nothing to do with crank horsepower.

but weight does.... all these programs rely on weight. you have to have a fairly precise weight entered for fairly precise calculation.

But by all means, 203chp is low.

i did a simple calculation the factory car comes with 170CHP that's on a FWD manual car, if u take a 25% drivetrain loss for quattro and 15% for a tiptronic u end up with about 120CHP this is by taking the percentage off the factory wheel HP and then multiplying by 1.352(correction factor) and u get 120CHP.
now u do the same with APR 1+ u take the 230CHP it lists on APR's website and so on...

Ya, just like it is on a FWD automatic, and AWD manual, and AWD automatic. Regardless of what you attach to the engine, it still provides 170 horsepower at the crank, hence "Crank Horse Power" CHP.

The increased parasitic loss of AWD and an automatic transmission with a torque converter only affects WHP (Wheel Horse Power) since they are between the engine and the wheels. However, it is not 40% (25+15%), you need to check your numbers.
