Coilover survey/ database- Comparison & Spring Rates.

    Hi All,

I have an B7 A4 AVANT(2008), and looking for Coilovers. In the process thought if on the off chance this thread takes of, this may become a useful resource to others:

There are a number of Coilover setups out there- Stasis, Koni, Vogtland(pureMS), Vogtland (startup Racing), HR,etc.

Each uses a different spring rate (front & back) and even Rear sway setup.

Most of the recommendations here are word of mouth.
Is it possible to get the different venders to give some real data on spring rate etc. to compare to OEM A4 (non-sport) and OEM sport suspension. As long as this doesn't give away "trade secrets"

Even though the spring rates from the different setups are not the final word, they are a useful starting point for a comparison.

Can we give this a try?
Given the number of A4's this might be a good starting point.( and it is useful to me )

    OEM non-sport (AVANT different?):
    Front
    Rear
    linear rate?

    OEM Sport (AVANT different?):
    F
    R
    linear?

    Stasis street Sport(AVANT different):
    F
    R
    linear?

    Koni
    F
    R
    linear?

    Vogtland
    F
    R
    linear?

    Vogtland-startup racing?H&R? Others?

    Thanks.

if you did a search you would have found the list i compiled last year. The B6 and B7 chassis take the same coilovers..

Are you looking for spring rates for stock susp's? Keep in mind that spring rates aren't the only factor; damping is a large part of how the susp rides/handles...not to mention the technology inside the damper (ie Ohlins for example can react SOOOO quickly to inputs that you can pair it with a really stiff spring yet still end up with a compliant ride. Try this with another, less advanced damper, and the ride won't be so compliant).
