... the story sprung back to live with an unexpected turn.
No, my current K04 is fine; this is much, much stranger or funnier which ever way you prefer.
If any of you remember my issues when i went K04 about a year ago with me getting a bad unit (shaft play), all the headache, blah, blah. I got the K04 replaced under warranty and have been a happy camper since then.

Well, i get home from work today and to my surprise find a box from Kinetic Motorsport. Since i have not ordered anything, needless to say I’m perplexed and very much so curios what's in the box.
Imagine my total and complete amazement when i find MY OLD K04 that I’ve returned to Kinetic (completely disassembled!!!!) along with a copy of my original receipt, warranty analysis report, service engineering report from Borg Warner and the letter from Kinetic.
The latter reads (in short version): "Dear Alex, for your convenience enclosed is your returned turbo, Borg Warner has denied the warranty claim, so we're sending the unit back to you".
My first thought.... I'm in the friggin' twilight zone...WHAT THE FUCK????? they better not be trying to get their money back AFTER A FUCKING YEAR!!!!!
I come down a bit, and read all the paperwork. ...... and fall on the floor LMAO.
The warranty report Kinetic says: "Customer reports heavy smoke, turbo leaking oil from both ends ."
The engineering report from BW reads. "All tests passed satisfactory, no trouble with unit" and then an explanation. "Leaking oil could be caused by clogged oil line or by oil overfillment."
Well.... Here's the KICKER. I've NEVER had (nor reported) a problem with leaking oil or smoke!!!!!!! The problem i had was with turbo making scritching noise due to shaft play. You could actually see the line in the inlet where the fins were rubbing! And that's exactly what I’ve told to Kinetic when returning the turbo!
So next, i give Kinetic a call and basically ask for an explanation and what exactly do they want from me. The answer was - nothing. They’re just returning the unit to me since they could not warrantee it. I tell the person about the incorrect problem description and he basically says "Are you serious? I guess we've screwed up... well it’s too late now just keep it"
So here you have it. UNFRIGGINLREAL!
Anyone wants to buy a K04? Bork Warner says its fine... You just have to put in back together
I'll take pics of everything when i get a minute.
