Help. Any idea? Whistling sound from engine + Check Engine Light

Before I bring it to the dealer, i'd like to know what i should bring to their attention first in the case they don't find anything...which has happend before with a loud "clank" form the front end a few weeks ago.

There's a loud whistling noise at idle, sounds like a constant sound of a cricket. Plus, the check engine light came on after i noticed the sound after i parked in the driveway. Does anyone have any idea what that could be?

I have a similar issue, however my engine is just rough and noisy, drives like crap.. I am trying to figure out if my PCV is the problem, I went to the dealer but of course they didn't check it even though I asked, thinking they know better for a change.

So I tried what you suggested (removing the oil cap while engine was idle running) and sure enough it was under vacuum, I did not remove it completely though (for fear of wearing engine oil in the face hehe) but as I pulled away, engine started wanting to stop...

So essentially, should the case be under vacuum or not?
