Ok fellas, for those of you who have not installed or purchased GSG's intake pipe, i'll give you a lil review as their sponsored car.
First of all props to the guys at GSG for the quick shipping, always makes an enthusiast happy to get his beloved purchase quickly!
Now for the install.
All you need is:
-Flat head screw driver
-Phillips head screw driver
-Pliers
-Elbow grease
Now because I had an intake to begin with (EVOMS cone with Carbonio Shield) I will explain the whole thing with this in mind.
First, make sure to remove the plastic inlets (if you have the Carbonio you have to do this, if you have the EVOMS you don't) and clear the area for work.
With the pliers, clamp down on the fasteners and begin removing the stock crappy intake pipe. There will be two fasteners, one at the base of the intake cone and one at the top of the turbo inlet. Remove the two and set down the cone.
Here comes the part where you see WHY the GSG pipe is so much better then the stock Audi piece. Look into the plastic pipe and notice how the interior portion is riveted and demonstrates how instability can be created in the air flow. For this, GSG has developed a pipe that is straight and does not compromise flow.
Final part of the install
Test fit the pipe without the clamps or couplers to guarantee you know what fit you like (a lot of people don't take the time to fit it right and end up complaining that it doesn't fit, it does, perfectly in fact if you take the time to get it right). Once this is done setup the pipe with the couplers and clamps lined up and tightened appropriately. Line up the GSG pipe on the cone first and clamp that down so that the final fitment onto the turbo inlet is correct and tight. Make sure everything is lined up and VOILA!
Fire up the car and listen to the difference.
The benefits: as proven by me.
-Improved throttle response
-Sound (woosh) and BOV are much louder
-Slightly better acceleration (it truly does improve)
-The air flow is improved, engine appears to run better
-sexyness factor, the piece will look any engine bay look great
I'll spare the pics because they are all on the GSG site (www.ghostsquadgarage.com)
If any of you have questions or would like more in depth info I can provide you with that. I've driven hard on the pipe today for over 100 miles of testing and the engine feels much stronger and complete with this, I must say, Audi should have provided something of the sort straight out of the factory, too bad thats not reality though lol
Special Thanks to Laurence and Jordan at GSG
And make sure to sit tight for the GSG FULL intake coming soon...
